Removing tags

Although Wretchskull mistook your edits of List of Cayman Islands hurricanes for vandalism, they were right about not removing tags unless they're inappropriate or you've addressed (or plan to address) the issue on the tag. I changed the {{ More citations needed}} tag to {{ unreferenced}}, since the article is completely unsourced. There are two " See also" sections, which I'll combine. Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/How to and Wikipedia:Basic copyediting are helpful links. Have fun and all the best, Mini apolis 15:22, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

Wow. Please don't do large reverts until you have more experience; the "good" version of the page was well-sourced, which I'm glad Fuhghettaboutit noticed. They also combined those two see-also sections. Stay well and all the best, Mini apolis 15:30, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

My apologys I copy and pasted my writing back into the page which resulted in removed citiations sorry. That was my mistake as I am still learning the ropes Gandalf the Groovy Gandalf the Groovy ( talk) 16:02, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

(e/c) Hey Gandalf the Groovy. Let me clarify a bit regarding the revert and other issues Miniapolis refers to above. After you completed your copyedit, you were reverted. You then attempted to revert the reversion, but if you look at the state of the page as of that revision by you ( here), you did not properly revert at all but left the page at some version with no citations whatsoever. It doesn't really matter how you ended up doing the reversion wrong, so long as you understand how to do it properly in the future. Below I will describe a manual revert. Note that the undo button is useful but extremely limited, whereas a manual revert can be used to revert a page to any version in its entire history.
  1. Go to a page's history;
  2. click on the date of a revision you wish to revert to;
  3. Click edit this page at the top; and
  4. Save the page (yep, that's it).
Anyway, after you left it in that poor state, without any citations, you also left it with the {{ copyedit}} tag placed back, which you had previously removed during your copyedit (as instructed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/January 2021#Totals). Removing that template places the article back in celanup categories for articles tagged as needing copyediting. That likely is the origin of your current Teahouse post asking how you remove the article from the "list" of articles needing copyediting.

However, this raises one more issue. In your copyedit, you not only removed the copyedit template from the article, but also {{ More citations}}. That was not warranted at all as the article is about 70% unsourced (and I have returned it). Please be careful not to remove that important flag on an article, as sourcing is the lifeblood of proper content.

Indeed, I'd note that I was in the midst of composing a response to your question at the Teahouse, saying something to the effect that I was going to revert your entire copyedit, because you removed all the citations, and explaining that "an article that has had its grammar/spelling etc. fixed but that has citations, is far superior to that same content written better but without the citations" and so forth (but then figured out that you hadn't done so intentionally, but had just bungled the revert). Best regards-- Fuhghettaboutit ( talk) 16:12, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

You asked me on my talk p. for help in improving sources:
The basics are author, title, and publisher, and ISBN or OCLC number, all of which are easy to find in WP:Worldcat. For some of them you sees to have also cited them as references. In our citation style, you do not have to include these in a bibliography section at all if you've cited them correctly in the references. The Bibliography section is normally used for a list of more general or related books, and some of those listed seem quite appropriate. I see some of the references aalso are incomplete , For magazine articles, you should have the title of the article as well as the author. There's a more important problem. The list of confederate veterans on the internet is not really an adequate source for birth and death dates. It should be possible to find better, including an obituary in a local newspaper. For help in finding such sources, the best way at this time is to call your local library.
The most difficult part of writing articles in WP is to get the references done properly. The best place to start is at WP:REFBEGIN.Don't worry too much about formatting , which people and some semi-automatic programs (we call them bots) will fix for you, but try to get all the information. The key information if at all possible is the ISBN --it's the link to everything else.
And something else I noticed: the article on his book is not in good condition. What it needs is references to substantial reviews in third-party published independent reliable sources. It should be possible to find them. Again, ask a librarian--you can tell them its for a WP article you're writing. (I'm a retired librarian myself. Note the retired.) Removing tags

  1. Go to a page's history;
  2. click on the date of a revision you wish to revert to;

Note the retired.)
