Douglas of Mains Uploaded 6th September 2010.
I think the DYK is good to go, and marked it as such. The other day I left you a little note on my talkpage, and wondered if you knew more about the heraldry used within the family. Is there a Stewart connection?-- Brianann MacAmhlaidh ( talk) 18:41, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
Congratulations! A good article on a tricky genealogy, which I have never completely sorted out in the Douglas Archives. William Douglas —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shipsview ( talk • contribs) 09:48, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
This article shows Archibald Douglas 17th of Mains (1820–38) as the son of Colin, as does the page I have just linked to. However, historyofparliamentonline.org ( http://www.historyofparliamentonline.org/volume/1790-1820/member/campbell-archibald-1763-1838 ) states he was 2nd s. of Col. Andrew Campbell of Blythswood (formerly Douglas of Mains) by Henrietta, da. of James Dunlop of Glasgow. historyofparliamentonline also staes he was unmarried, yet we know he had a family, so i am not sure how accurate it is. Do you? Shipsview ( talk) 12:20, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
I notice a recent revision and find that there is no discussion on the Douglas of Mains page. From your recollection, was there any? I find on other talk pages that revisions to the headers have resulted in deletion of discussion, which is concerning, do am wondering about this page. Shipsview ( talk) 09:39, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
Loads of great advice and links on WP:verify, WP:SPS, what is and isn't vanadlism, tags and templates, not to mention Wikiquette here.
A little digging suggests that it's actually an old Victor Lewis-Smith gag ( here's a source from 2000 that attributes it to him), which sounds about right.
Reading the Standard article again, it actually refers to the joke as being "old", so I'll clarify that in the article. -- McGeddon ( talk) 09:16, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Curiously there is a document listing Andrew CoD as a baillie of the earl of Lennox in 1567 on ebay this week , listed as "Superb 1562 HAND WRITTEN Vellum MANUSCRIPT With Original WAX SEAL", which shows he was still alive in 1567. The other baillies of Lennox in 1567 were Alexander Campbell of Ardoch, William Lindsay, & Umphrey Levenax of Blarstchogill (sic), see top two lines of the document. I see you are a member of the WIkiProject Chemical and Bio Engineering. I’ve made a number of proposals that I think improve the article about David Edwards (engineer), a biomedical engineer, located here Talk:David Edwards (engineer)#RequestEdits December 15, 2020.
