I reverted your edit to this article. Changing the nationality is probably best done AFTER a discussion on the talk page. I understand your reasoning, but it's still best to get some buy-in from other editors. Joyous! Noise! 01:10, 16 March 2024 (UTC) reply

Eritrea was a part of Ethiopia when the subject was born (1986). The government was known as the "Derg" and controlled modern day Ethiopia and Eritrea from 1974 to 1987. Wikieditor969 ( talk) 02:59, 16 March 2024 (UTC) reply
With all do respect... we were colonized... we fought for our independence and we are and were alway Eritrea. Please stop editing pages that haven't requested your input. Information icon Hello, I'm Peaceray. I noticed that you recently removed content from Meb Keflezighi without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Why did you remove cited material, and without explanation? Please read the WP:VNT essay. Peaceray ( talk) 22:41, 17 May 2024 (UTC) reply

I have reverted your addition of an unsourced date of birth to Ella Thomas. In addition to Wikipedia's basic principle of citing sources ( Wikipedia:Citing sources), a special need for citations applies with regard to elements of a biography of a living person ( WP:BLPPRIVACY). Feel free to add a date of birth when it is accompanied by a citation to a reliable, published, non-primary source. Eddie Blick ( talk) 00:44, 18 May 2024 (UTC) reply

Ella Thomas edit cited to Fandom

I have reverted your addition of content to Ella Thomas that was cited to arrow.fandom.com. I appreciate your effort to cite a source, but Fandom sites are "considered generally unreliable" for use in Wikipedia articles. Please see WP:FANDOM for some comments about that status. Eddie Blick ( talk) 00:45, 20 May 2024 (UTC) reply

Ella Thomas edit cited to Rotten Tomatoes

I have reverted your addition of content to Ella Thomas that was cited to Rotten Tomatoes. Please see WP:ROTTEN TOMATOES, which says, in part "There is consensus that Rotten Tomatoes should not be used for biographical information ..." Eddie Blick ( talk) 01:45, 25 June 2024 (UTC) reply

Since when does there need to be this much effort put in to verify a birthdate? Most people on wikipedia don't even have a birthdate or birthplace backed by a reference link. I can't understand why you are so insistent that this person must have one, and are so quick to pounce and revert my edits. If you had to verify every single person's birthdate on wikipedia there isn't a verified source for each and every person. You can do a million google searches online for this person and see that the birthdate is clearly labeled as Aug 15, 1981. Surely if this birthdate is shown countless times online, without any source challenging it, then it should be correct? Furthermore, the birthdate had been listed Aug 15, 1981 for years until I had pointed out that since that is the case, then the birthplace should be listed as Asmara, Ethiopia as Eritrea did not exist at the time. After I pointed this out, the birthdate was quietly removed. Wikieditor969 ( talk) 11:16, 25 June 2024 (UTC) reply
I apply Wikipedia's standards regarding dates of birth for living people when I see such dates either unsourced or accompanied by citations to sources that are not considered reliable for such use. You are not singled out, by any means. My watchlist frequently leads me to look at articles that have problems with proper sourcing for a living person's date of birth.
You asked, "Since when does there need to be this much effort put in to verify a birthdate?" I suppose the best answer would be since Wikipedia:Verifiability was created (whenever that was). Verifiability should not be considered an option. As that page says, it is "a widely accepted standard that all editors should normally follow."
As for the number of hits on a Google search, if one of those meets Wikipedia's reliablilty standards, you are welcome to use it. Unfortunaetly, many hits on Google are from websites that are not reliable.
I should point out, also, that because this article is about a living person, WP:BLPPRIVACY applies, eliminating use of public records (such as a birth certificate) to document a date of birth or other content. Eddie Blick ( talk) 01:54, 26 June 2024 (UTC) reply

Anything on Wikipedia is subject for removal if it's either not sourced or poorly sourced. Not a good idea to assume that just because other articles don't have sources means that it's okay for the article that you're editing to not have sources as well.
