Ven, I came here to say that I'll be keeping my next DYK reviews short and concise. Thanks for helping Sriram Vikram with editing, he is a new editor and should have a mentor, I am there for him and I think you should be there for him too. I think I began on a wrong foot with you, I am sorry for that as I wanted the article to be perfect which is not the goal for a DYK, its new content, that its USP unlike a GA or FA who's main objective is to be perfect. Happy New Year! Good job so far on her. I'll try to comment on it by the weekend. What we need really is more Indian cities brought up to GA status, I'd be interested in working with you on that.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:38, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Yeah let's get Trichy through first. I tend to prefer getting articles to GA as FA is a big effort and there's so many important articles needing development and some decent level of quality. Obviously our goal eventually is to get as many to FA as possible!♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:17, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Yeah GA would be the foremost goal. My top priority would be Chennai (former FA), as currently it's the only Indian metro which is a not even close to GA. — Vensatry (Ping me) 11:40, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Trichy is just the sort of article you'd expect to be riddled with POV and long lists of schools etc on here and it really is a joy to see it at that level of quality! Rather than clutter up the review page with a few small things that can be easily fixed I'll list them here.
Lead
"... the city is served by an international airport which operated flights to Southeast Asia and the Middle East."If the airport isn't still offering flights to Southeast Asia and the Middle East then I don't see the point of mentioning that it used to.
Etymology
"... who meditated on the Hindu god Shiva near the present-day city and obtained favours."I have no idea what the phrase "obtained favours" means.
Urban structure
"The city is situated at the head of the Kaveri Delta, which commences 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) west where the Kaveri divides into two streams".I'm not sure I see the relevance of this to urban structure, wouldn't it be better in the geography section? Also, I think it's stretching it a bit to claim that the city is at the head of a delta that actually begins almost 10 miles to the west.
