I think I got it, you were missing the "titleparts" stuff to truncate the user variable because of all the spaces after the username in the region lists. – xenocidic ( talk) 17:05, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Artichoker, I think it would be best to change the header on that AFD to say the result was "Merge and Redirect" instead of "Keep". Useight ( talk) 21:23, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
It's a collaboration!
A collaboration using advanced wiki-tools!
The event is being co-sponsored by Wikiproject Lists of basic topics and WikiProject Geography, and participants will be "traveling" all around "the World" visiting each country online (here on Wikipedia) as they apply advanced wiki-tools to improve pieces of the profiles of each and every country on Earth!. Each pass through these pages is a "trip around the World..."
The set of pages we are working is currently located at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics.
Each page presents essential information on each country in a topic outline format, for ease of overviewing and navigating. Most of the topics presented are linkified, which turns these pages into a hypertextual map to material about each country on Wikipedia. When completed, they shall all become part of Wikipedia's contents system.
The pages share a standard format, with the information on each country presented in the same general order. So rather than getting stuck on a single country trying to complete it, each participant works on all 200+ political entities, completing a single data item or detail across all of the pages!
For this they use advanced tools like WP:AWB, Linky, etc. It goes fast, and since others are doing this at the same time, it makes "the World" feel like a beehive, and the participants are its bees. :) The energy is contagious.
And since you are moving from country to country, the tasks make it feel like you are traveling around the world, and you get to learn a little about every country as you do so. This approach also allows for greater efficiency, because by the time you've done 30 or so of a particular item, you've figured out how to finish it faster and more effectively (such as where to find the data or how to make adjustments), and this specialization speeds up development - but more importantly it reduces errors.
The tasks are varied, which adds even more variety to the project. Some tasks are look-ups-and-fill-ins, some are copy and paste, some are image hunts, some are maintenance adjustments, some are link fixing, some are blue-linking (creating an underlying redirect so a link turns blue), some are fact checking, etc.
Standing by to help are co-coordinators, who can lend a helping hand to participants, provide instruction and tips on how to use the tools, and help them find what they are looking for. Co-coordinators also use advanced tools to inspect the work of participants, and touch it up as needed, or if a task was done wrong throughout, point this out to the participant so he or she can make the necessary corrections.
Co-coordinators are working on the set of pages right now, to familiarize themselves with "the World" so they can help more effectively by the time the main event starts. But there's still lots of preparation left to be done, and we are looking for editors experienced in advanced wikitools who would like to become co-coordinators.

I'll leave my support to the imagination. Do I support autograph books? Signatures? Lists? The number 131? But in all seriousness, I do, indeed, think you're a good editor. Useight ( talk) 18:20, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
That's pretty smart! That tool works pretty slow on my computer; SQL's tool is faster for me. Either way, do like to keep track of my edits and update my counter, which is now on a separate page so I'm not accused of editcountitis by those who have watchlisted my page. :) I think there's also some kind of advanced program used for tracking your edits, but I never really researched that. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 18:43, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Looking through your article work, I found some great stuff there, such as your work to Henderson Village. I took a sizeable random sample of your reverts and didn't find any mistakes. Looking through User Talk, I didn't find any problems there either. Going through your work in the Wikipedia space, it's mostly great, but there were some comments at AFDs that didn't add much to the discussion, such as "Per User:XYZ" and a few RFA !votes, such as "Why not?" that don't add much to the discussion either. Overall, though, excellent work, keep it up. Useight ( talk) 21:01, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for volunteering to help out at WP:ACC. Just a quick note: please be careful when closing requests as 'Too Similar'. Admins have the 'override antispoof' right which allows them to create similar accounts, therefore if the account that the request is similar to has no or very few edits and/or these edits were a while ago, it is safe to assume that there will be no confusion and you should click 'defer to admins' rather than 'similar'. This will add the request to the admin-needed queue and an admin will create the account in due course. Thanks. RichardΩ612 Ɣ ɸ 18:16, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Please watch when denying requests at ACC. If you continue to deny similar requests that can be handled by an Admin, you may become blocked from the tool. If you have any questions, please ping me on my talkpage.... Dusti SPEAK!! 23:42, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for that. Regarding me deferring the account as you are talking about, since I had already accidentally closed it, I had to defer it to the users and then defer it to the admins, which it why it appears that way in the logs. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused. - Diligent Terrier (and friends) 16:54, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
An embarrassing Huggle revert? Come on, details, details. P.S. - I saw an "Oppose per Useight" in your autograph book. That made me laugh. Useight ( talk) 17:12, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
I have another question about bots. I've decided that, if I get a bot running, it would use AWB. My question is, do I need to get separate approval if I want to have AWB for the bot and my user account? I'm almost positive you do, but I want to make sure. I'm going to request it for my user account today. -- LAA Fan 20:40, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi there,
I am brand new to editing on Wikipedia. It peaked my interest as my company uses a version of wiki and the editing really started to become fun to me. I have always been interested in editing and spelling errors always drive me insane.
I'm hoping you can show me the ropes and help me find articles to edit - I have been trying on my own but I just keep getting lost and aggravated.
I look forward to you adopting me soon! (I am also in the East, I live in NY and I plan on being online tonight).
Thanks,

As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible) system - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. Please clear this parameter if you change things to be "HAU compatible". Further questions can be raised at WT:HAU. This message was delivered by xenobot 22:51, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Just to provide an example: I wish to add my name to the members list, i click "edit this page" at the members section. I am told that i now have to go back, and edit another section. It is not only confusing to new members, but is a general annoyance. As a side note, having so many sub-pages is really confusing, and leaves us more exposed to vandalism - it is easier to watch one page than ten or twenty. Five Years 06:29, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

User:Florentino floro has really crossed the line here [4], see my comments on the talk page [5] for more details. I think a personal word from you would go a long way toward making him understand that what he did was inappropriate. I know I am often on his case, but I think this particular edit of his crosses a more serious threshold. Unfortunately, my telling him so is not going to make him listen. You, on the other hand, may have some sway. maxsch ( talk) 22:08, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

I spend 8 hours daily, regularly and continously, to add good positive edits, while Max, spends 20 minutes daily to revert my hard earned positive contributions. Is Wikipedia fair? Are yeoman editors entitled to be respected? Daily, I work Wiki for long continuous 8 hours, I repeat, as evidenced by my contributions and their times inputs. [7]. Sad to say, Max's sole agenda in Wiki, is to make a fishing expedition, to find ways to block me, by looking for the so called blatant violations. But Max can't because of my diligence, honesty and good faith. I could have made more than 20,000 edits by patrolling, correcting spelling, Max reverting, grammar, formatting, but, I opted to contribute good and closed edits, such that any editor would take it hard to add more, but could easily trim my rather medium edits. [8] Take these fewest examples, where, in each edit, I spent 1 1/2 hours researching all googles: Dayana Mendoza, and New Cross double murder. Take Max's daily contributions: 98% of them are stalking my edits, patrolling them, and Max desires to block me for no reason. Let us be candid of Max's sole agenda. But I disregard these, sinced I believe in the ethics and respect by most editors here to myself. [9] If Max has a Wiki action against me, then Max should read Wiki rules and apply the policies as well. Regards.-- Florentino floro ( talk) 08:04, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
When Max found a seemingly wrong edit, but not, Max reverted my edit. So, I read Wiki rules and policy, and forthwith faced Max squarely on the RULES. Here:Wikipedia:Requests for comment [10]. Like in all my edits (now 5,002+), no Wikipedia editor had ever more than .01% ever reverted my edits, since Max came, except Max, as Wiki stalker, since I learned so much, being now a Most Excellent Grognard, entitled to display the badge of Yeoman Editor. Now, I found this humour template apt here:
Beware! This user is a known talk page stalker. |
Beware! This user's talk page is patrolled by talk page stalkers. |
Fortunately, User:Efe, instead of filing comment at the talk page, became neutral, and thus, edited and cleaned up the article [11] I fully explained my stance, that there is no COI, reading all the lines of COI [12]. Regards.-- Florentino floro ( talk) 08:15, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Ok, so maybe i'm not a moderator or editor, but i'm pretty sure the one line of text that I added on how to identify Water Oak trees was very informative. Just because I didnt' fill out an edit summary doesn't mean that it wasn't worthwile. In fact, I'm wondering how and why it is necessary to write a summary for a one line edit. Really, if I did put a summary on it, it would have been verbatim what i included. Also, I'm not even sure if I'm putting this in the right place, your page is so jumbled that I'm pretty lost in it at this point. Please, don't revert my edit agian, as it both adds to the article and helps to better convey the somewhat botanical jargon that it supplements. Really, it's a waste of my time to go back and reedit things that needed to be edited in the first place. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eganjt ( talk • contribs) 19:02, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't believe in my giving you or my former parent User:Ianlopez1115, a barnstar, since, I myself, only received one barnstar from User:Lenticel, Filipino admin. But, I desire to bestow upon your human existence, my greatest gift, which I rarely confer. "Lux in Domino", that is: Peace, which is priceless. My parents died in 1979 and 1996 at the ages of 79 and 70. As orphan, who never found kindness in my own nation, under your parental care to a jobless Filipino puppy, and due " diligence of a good father of a family" (legal phrase in Philippine Civil Code), rest assured that this posted animation may temper the stress of your non-tiring efforts towards making Wikipedia a better and harmonious place for co-existence among editors and admins (including my former parent, Ian who is an amin and coach hopeful). Ian (a wealthy Laguna high school most promising geek), told me that he was inspired by my story and 9 years Philippine sufferings, as" jobless judge in pretend world." But now, I found this sole job, sitting 9 hours in Wiki bench not a jurist, but as a philo-searcher of kindness and deepest compassion.

That England will be the article, not Babe Ruth, as I agree on what Shapiros said about how we would be doing a service. I would normally just give out my standard notice, but I want users just stopping by on the page to see the notice and hopefully join themselves.-- LAA Fan 17:25, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Dear Parent, I now have hard evidence that Maxs and User:Cma have no agenda here, except the hidden vindictive yet spiritual request to prevent me from editing secret unspecified articles in Wikipedia that Max and Cma desire. If this is what they want, both can specify these. Enumerate these, and if Wiki rules permit, I will not edit or add to these articles. Why confuse Wiki foreign and Filipino administrators and editors including you, on our conflict? As the long and tedious discussion rages, one could not really discover what both want. So, tersely, I made this [23]. Please, parent, read this long discussion on Plaridel dire Aviation accidents and incidents on 3 Indian nationals. Any lawyer will tell you, that my evidence is not religious but circumstantial, pointing to the fact that Max went to India to consult Vedic and venerable tellers to decipher my very own dire actuations on many events worldwide which concerned many. Mystic India is not that simple, nor Max.
I withdrew from Homeschooling because I don't know anything about the subject and I am unable to offer the level of intelligent input you deserve to make that stand out. Ecoleetage ( talk) 20:37, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

A propos of Floro's newest obsession, my alleged connection to India and airplane crashes, please look at this edit [24]. Honestly, as the host of a long and hopefully not pointless discussion about him and me, you must have some insight now. It would be a big help if you would comment at the user RFC that YOU RECOMMENDED THAT I START [25]. Thanks for your best efforts to help us resolve our conflicts in utter good faith. For the truth to be unveiled, I took pains to read the Wiki policies and rules, but I need your advise as parent on this. I hope this is not TLDR, in view of the first impression nature of our conflict. Regards.

Hi DiligentTerrier, it's me this time. I really hope that, between that diff max posted and this wall of text that Floro just posted, you have a much clearer grasp on how serious this matter is. I'm not entirely sure what he's trying to say but I think he's accusing me of being a sockpuppet of someone whose vandalism I reverted in 2005, exposing my "real name" (it isn't), and linking maxsch to airplane crashes in India. Please do take the time to comment on the RFC. -- Migs ( talk) 12:01, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Hello!
I'm a French experimented user s(very active in his local Wikipedia) eeking for an adopter. I'm looking for someone who could explain me all the US specificities of Wikipedia, as for instance the procedure to send copyrighted pictures, using the Fair use act, or about how we fight against vandalism in there.
An adopter has offered me his help, but I think he doesn't suits to me. May you adopt me if you think you'll be able to help me, please? I'll tell Chubbennaitor that he doesn't meets my personal requirements as soon as the deed is done.

Hi DT. I see you've adopted another user. I'm not sure that's so wise. Your lack of interest in one of your other adoptees, User:Florentino floro, is causing plenty of trouble. Will you please write a conclusion to the mediation you so graciously hosted (and so graciously ignored)? And will you please comment on the RFC for Floro? Need I remind you again that it was your idea to create one. And finally, will you please tell him to stop researching and disparaging my and user:cma's "real" identities? Dear parent, as your adoptee, may I please ask for enlightenment on this grave or blatant violation of Wikpedia rules. Max used an IP address with India, Mumbai Server, alleging Max passed thereat. This is the critical fact: Max, in the Edit Summary, typed this:
I never tried to discover Max or Cma's personal phone, credit cards, etc. It was Cma's blunder to have edited Flaminsky and then added the link which revealed DOM. This is serious. Since, I am questioning deleted User:Flaminsky's right whatsoever to participate in these dragging Rfc, etc.

Hi again Diligent, I thought maybe my comments and max's might be getting buried in all of Floro's text, but you seem to have gone online since Floro started trying to turn the issue around on us, so I'm hoping you get to see this. Considering that this is the third time this week that Floro's written one of these, surely you can see by now what our issues are with him. Again, please do consider commenting on the RFC, because as max said, Floro seems to be taking your silence as tacit approval of his edits, accusations, and actions. -- Migs ( talk) 13:28, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Just a heads up — it's not really appropriate for you to change the name of articles in categories during an ongoing WP:CFD, even if you think the result of the CFD is inevitable or predictable. Many users like to see what a category looks like in terms of contents at the time of nomination, and they cannot if the articles are removed. The same goes for creating the new proposed category during the CFD — not a great idea as it causes confusion and is really a premature action by a few days. Thanks!

Thank you for your support at my RFA, which has closed as a success. I'm flattered that you think I know enough to be an admin, but as I am one now, I feel like a driver who has just passed his test and being allowed to drive on his own... the realisation of the damage I could do is just so daunting! Anyway, I promice to take things easy to begin with and listen to the advice of my peers. Once again, thanks for your support. StephenBuxton ( talk) 21:39, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

I want to respectfully reiterate and submit hereinder by quoting parts of damning evidence of admissions that: User talk:Howard the Duck [6] I'm tired already of his shortcomings. At least with that comment he'll think twice on expounding a lenghtly dissertation about dwarfs. --Howard the Duck 07:13, 27 June 2008 (UTC) Even sysops don't know how to deal with him, IMHO. The only way they'll do action is if he does really blatant violation (COPYVIO/3RR/etc). --Howard the Duck 07:17, 27 June 2008 (UTC) Take a look at the user talk page of the one if the intervening admins (I forgot who), it seems he doesn't know what to do. --Howard the Duck 07:32, 27 June 2008 (UTC) If ever you catch him doing something that warrants a block, please tell me. ;D TheCoffee (talk) 08:18, 27 June 2008 (UTC)I caught him editing Wikipedia --Migs (talk) 08:27, 27 June 2008 (UTC)Well if anyone does something that warrants a block, I'm going to enforce the rules and block them.

Sorry for the email. Here is the message pasted below:

Hello! This is the first that I encountered this: Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Florentino floro [17] . I am not pretty sure, when and how, I will respond. So, if the pending User:Diligent Terrier/Florentino floro and Maxschmelling (created on 18:38, 18 May 2008 by Diligent Terrier), works like this, as far as the procedure of replying and argument/discussions, then, I cordially invited some Filipino and foreign editors or users, here, to share their views on the matter, as maxsch, also did invite. Hence, I sent messages of invitations to users/admins who had posted in my own talk pages/archives, and who might be familiar with the debate: Filipinos - User talk:Rizalninoynapoleon, User talk:Kguirnela, User talk:Ianlopez1115, User talk:Titopao; and non-Filipinos User talk:NanohaA'sYuri, User talk:Vivio Testarossa, User talk:Andreasegde, User talk:Viriditas, User talk:BanyanTree, User talk:Royalbroil, User talk:John Carter, User talk:Algabal, User talk:FisherQueen, User talk:Rkitko, User talk:BanyanTree, User talk:Royalbroil, User:Diligent Terrier, my parent.-- Florentino floro ( talk) 06:16, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your best efforts to help us resolve our conflicts in utter good faith. For the truth to be unveiled, I took pains to read the Wiki policies and rules, but I need your advise as parent on this. I hope this is not TLDR, in view of the first impression nature of our conflict. Regards.

Hi again Diligent, I thought maybe my comments and max's might be getting buried in all of Floro's text, but you seem to have gone online since Floro started trying to turn the issue around on us, so I'm hoping you get to see this. Thanks!
