Is your mimosa animation in slow motion or normal speed? The plant appears to react much more slowly than I am used to seeing. Perhaps Indian mimosa varieties are slower? Please let me know. — O'Dea (talk) 06:05, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
As the deletion proposal has passd, I think we should decide what to do next, so I'v startd a discussion here. ~Asarlaí 17:39, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Please read my comment on the talk page. I changed the statement with "New York City-born", which is both less confusing and more accurate. Thank you. olivier ( talk) 11:13, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Why the revision? South Dublin is more accurate than Dublin in general. And piping of the RoI is the agreed usage. Laurel Lodged ( talk) 13:20, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
The reason for the change is that it quotes exactly the phrase used in the Irish Independent, link given: ........shakes her hand !!!, so why not leave it that way? The phrase is both past and present, and sounds and reads better (shook reads odd). Suggest you revert to shakes again since other papers also state "Mayor shakes hands with the Queen". Have they all got it wrong? Greets Osioni ( talk) 09:54, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

I am here to compliment you on your writing. The recent post regarding the name of Ireland is an example. In regard to that, I want to leave you with a link to an exchange of thoughts which points out the weaknesses in the counter arguments to that simplest of facts, the constitutional name. See User_talk:Jamesinderbyshire/Archive_1#Ireland; there you will find the essential falsehood of a perceived need to settle ambiguity questions is eventually laid bare. The "real" reason? "The country that is called Ireland can not claim ownership over the islands history." To paraphrase, 'the people who are now in charge are illegitimate and have appropriated the name'. The part regarding the number of votes is farce, but to understand where the 'logic' comes from it should be read. The thread is many, many paragraphs long, but worth looking at. I think you will gain additional insight from reading that discussion, so am passing it on to you. Once again thank you – Sswonk ( talk) 13:32, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
![]() | On 28 June 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Census of Ireland 2011, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that abuse of prisoners in Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq threatened to affect the accuracy of the Census of Ireland 2011? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page ( here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

I hate to come across as a nitpicker, but should Kevin O' Sullivan of the Irish Times be better described as a "Newspaper Editor" rather than a "Journalist".
By the way, I want to award you the Irish National Barnstar of National Merit for all your hard work but you seem to want to keep your user page blank. Can I have your permission to put this barnstar there?
Best wishes,

I thought protest was fairly self explanatory from their posters. Would love to put in more context, details of outcome etc, but I don't have the info. I was just walking up Grafton Street and saw the protest. Ardfern ( talk) 14:11, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
Hi. Do you have some setting in your preferences that causes you to mark every edit as a minor edit? If so, could I ask you to switch it off, please? Minor edit means things like correcting typos, punctuation etc. If you make any substantive change it's not a minor edit. Thanks. Scolaire ( talk) 17:27, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

The short answer is that I'm a librarian, and I work for an institution with a subscription to it. :-)
I'm gussing from your talkpage that you're in Ireland; if you're looking for somewhere you can get access, this suggests that most city and county library services have (some form of) JSTOR access, as do many HE institutions - offsite access may not be available, but if you can get onto a public-access computer within the library, it should authorise happily.
The two fires are a quite interesting topic, and I've started roughing out a plan at User:Shimgray/fire. I should hopefully have something to put into the mainspace in a week or two. It'll take a while to get the material pulled together, though - particularly with the Custom House fire, it's quite hard to find firm details of what was actually affected, beyond vague comments about "local government records". Any comments appreciated... Shimgray | talk | 14:05, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
