Hello again.
The Highly Active Users project has gone through a complete revamping per popular demand. We believe this new format will make it easier for new editors to find assistance. However, with the new format, I must again ask you to verify your information on
this page. I attempted to translate the data from
the old version to the new, but with the extensive changes, I may have made some errors. Thanks again.

As I said, I didn't want to keep using Balloonman's page for that conversation. Anyway, thanks for posting the link to that RfA. To me, other people's jumping the gun to vote early is not a valid reason to oppose someone's RfA. That strikes me as frankly ridiculous. I have never been impressed when someone excuses their own bad behaviour as being caused by some else's bad behaviour. [2] I'm sure there's some wikimantra somewhere like WP:POINT that may make the case better than I can.
Fundamentally I believe that an apology ought not to include blame, else it's just the start of another argument. It appears that I'm in a minority of one on that issue though, so that's just set my next RfA back by another three months. I really can't understand how you administrators manage to live long enough to ever get through an RfA.  -- Malleus Fatuorum ( talk) 20:58, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

("It", of course, being the RyRy sitch. Man, I REALLY wish you had e-mail enabled, because THIS is the sort of thing I'd rather not say on-wiki!) Keeper, I would consider you one of my few "wiki-friends", and so it bugs me to have to say this, but in regard to the events of the past few days...somethin' ain't right. I can't say for sure WHAT, exactly, is going on, but my "somebody's-about-to-get-screwed-over" sense is tingling. (This is a fairly sharp sense, incidentally. I have been screwed over by people who, if screwing others over were an Olympic event, would have made at LEAST the alternates, if not the first team. So I know of whence I speak.) Tonight I was doing some mundane housework stuff, while thinking about what all has happened within the last week, and I just thought to myself, This just seems off-kilter somehow. And the last time I had this kind of sense about a Wikipedian, things went south pretty quickly (think Ryan Postlethwaite and Riana and mentorship). I'm not suggesting you should detach yourself completely--maybe everything is exactly as it seems on the surface--but...Just be careful. Don't put your reputation on the line, okay? I'd hate to see your good faith get abused. Just my opinion, though.... Gladys J Cortez 06:04, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Hey there, again--tired of me yet? Anyway--A couple of days back there was this user, User:Webkinz Mania, who created an article called Sprout Sharing Show, about a show on PBS KIDS Sprout. Well, the user turned out to be a sock of perennial thorn-in-my-gluteus Jamesinc14, and in cleaning up after his sockification, JzG deleted the article. The article itself was useful, and I'd done a bit of work on it before I'd realized it was a sock that had created it (aren't admins supposed to check the history before they delete an article like that?) Anyway, I asked JzG if the article could be restored--or, lacking that, if I could have the deleted content back; his reply [3] came off to me as somewhere between "No, too trivial" and "Maybe later--I've got more-important things to do." Either way, he's not the guy I want to piss off by nagging him on something he's already characterized as insignificant--any chance you could either a)reinstate the article, or b)undelete it to my userspace? I understand if that's not considered sporting in the world of admins--if that's the case, I'll just brace myself and go visit the lion in his den again. :) (I have no problems with JzG--he's a good admin--but he's just known to be a bit...snappish, would be one word for it. And, on-wiki as well as off-, I have an aversion to other people's anger.) Either way, thanks for taking the time to read this... Gladys J Cortez 12:40, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

There are many editors such as Fritz Poll and myself who have turned down adminship. I have 154,000 edits but still haven't been made an admin. Hey Keep. I've got a question for you. Take a look at this article and articles for surrounding years. Should articles be created in this manner? There is some potential for data to be added, and an AfD wouldn't really be about notability. So... should all these articles (possibly 1k+) be created with empty data, to allow people to add. Rather, not should they be created, but should they stay as empty like this? Gwynand | Talk• Contribs 16:19, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

I mentioned above about Special:UnwatchedPages. Obviously, as a non-admin, I can't see them (and rightly so) but I quite like the idea of taking some unloved articles and either a) getting people interested in them by categorising/tagging them or b) even better, fixing them up, as they might be in a bit of a state. Are you allowed to hand any of the names out? If it can't be on-wiki, you can e-mail me...on the other hand, if it's strictly admins-only, that's fine too Fritzpoll ( talk) 20:16, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

At the time, there was no suitable page for this article to be redirected to, so based on the consensus, you deleted the article. Hi I'm flattered at the nomination thankyou. Well you see I have been nominated many times but I have always turned it down because I have always chosen to focus entirely on encyclopedic content. I have always been under the impression that being an adminship would be a burden and prevent me from concnetrating on the encyclopedia. However at times it does seme ridiculous that I haven't got certain tools given the work I do here. I have created around 25,000 articles for wikipedia about twice as many as anybody else I think so my dedication to the project is without a doubt. Thanks for your kinds words, you;ve said it exactly. It does seem a bit odd to me that I have to answer all sorts of "silly quesitons" just to make other editors happy with me and go through a grilling and evidence gathering section of why I might not be one of the most experienced editors on here with 154,000 edits. I don't feel I have anything to prove to people, my contribution speaks for itself. It is always nice that many people recognise and congratulate me for my work, this is always very welcome but I know what I have done or am capable of and that really is all that matters. I could use a few extra buttons though for maintenance tasks which would be very beneficial. Perhaps something could be done in the future towards this. Another editor, who I know off-wiki, made personal statements about me during this AfD. Hes done this before, once in 2006 on ANI, and again either on my talk page or his. But this time, theres no way to prove who said what, and if he found out I was running again (RfA), he would have mentioned the AfD that was going on at the same time. So I quickly withdrew the AfD, and then the RfA as seen from my contributions. Something like this on my RfA would NOT look good. Especially since I told him that if he keeps vandalizing my userpage (once), or spamming my talk page (twice, the first time another editor stepped in before i could to tell him to stop spamming, and the second he was logged out, only using his ip), that he could be blocked by it, and to never sign out to vandalize, because thats an ip block, and most likely will result in the username blocked as well (i'm not at all too sure about it though). But like I said, its all he said he said. SynergeticMaggot ( talk) 22:03, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Just be aware, even if an AFD includes 100 deletes, one person's valid points should be enough to keep an article. Xyz7890 ( talk) 22:02, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Malleus has been blocked. [6] I'm still on holiday and only have sporadic true access other than my blackberry. A very, very quick review indicates to me the block was based on one comment "shove the block where the sun don't shine" (or similar) and one poor edit summary - not a great response by Malleus I admit. However I do not feel the block was justified as "preventative" given timelines, but that is only on a brief review. Just thought you might like to know. Pedro : Chat 22:06, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Keeper76. I know you remember our last conversation, right? You said you didn't trust me anymore. I was asking if I could have second chance for your trust back. I'm sorry for my copyvios which you thought was my work, more specifically baseball uniform, giving me a barnstar for thinking I wrote all that. I did right most of the part, but the rest I was just trying to reword it. I can really do better than that. I can write a decent article like "baseball uniform," I just can't find a good topic on (which is pretty hard deciding on). I have learned from my mistake. I'm truly sorry for what I did, and I am willing to revoke that barnstar you awarded me. I don't deserve it. Your not my keeper, adopter, or anything like that. Hi Keeper! I've enjoyed some playing with my shiny buttons, but I'm trying to get on with the project I originally promised to undertake within my RfA - clearing up the unwatched page situation. I've been mulling over how best to do this, and hopefully you (or the masses who watch your page) can make suggestions:
I can extract the unwatched articles fairly rapidly using a copy and paste into my raw watchlist, so that they are watched, which is essential before the next step. In the next step, I will have a series of pages (probably in my userspace - not sure project space is appropriate for this) where I can drop the lists of articles by Wikiproject (so a separate page for Wikiproject Astronomy, Wikiproject Skyscaper, etc). I can then drop a line to the relevant projects asking them to dorp by the page and watchlist the articles.
With the articles you extracted for me pre/mid-RfA, I've had a good success rate on getting them watched, and even edited again, so I'm convinced that the Wikiproject route is the way to go. My only concern is dumping 1000s of articles on my watchlist whilst I wait for them to be claimed. I could alternatively use my bot account as a holder (no intention to edit on that account) or I could create an alternative account, like User:Fritzpoll2, just so that I don't swamp my own watchlists with articles I've no interest in editing.
Not sure what's best here. What do you think Fritzpoll ( talk) 14:15, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
By coincidence I just asked Jza84 if there were any of the Greater Manchester project tagged articles unwatched, so I think contacting the wikiprojects is a great idea. -- Malleus Fatuorum ( talk) 23:49, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Belozan ( talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) Question for you, is 'user continues to remove content attributed to reliable sources and replaces with (presumably} his own website' grounds for anything? I am sorry to bother, but I would appreciate if you could please look into this matter: [8]. There appears to be an Admin who is behaving in what I see as an obnoxious and hostile manner towards someone that he blocked. Whether the block is justified or not is not my concern. What I am concerned about is a possibly blatant violation of WP:Civil that this Admin is showing to the editor. I've had previous problems with this Admin, so I am worried that this is not an aberration. Please let me know if this is something you can provide assistance with, or if there is another channel where a complaint can be raised. Thanks! Ecoleetage ( talk) 15:24, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
I respectfully disagree about "stern" warnings. As I see it, these comments by Metros are not in keeping with the nature of WP:Civil:
“Because why the hell do I care that you sliced your finger?”
“What'd you want? A card signed by everyone saying "We hope that you have a speedy recovery so that you can return soon as a non-productive editor who proves again and again why he is on a topic ban"? The reason you're not getting piles upon piles of "get well soon" notices is that you haven't earned the respect of other users.”
“You do realize that your next block is going to be fairly long, right? Probably in the 3-6 months to a year to possibly indefinite range. So when that block expires, you better become a productive user who doesn't have all these "accidents" and "mistakes" that you keep experiencing.”
That language is obnoxious and mean-spirited – and that third quote is a blatant threat (I thought blocking wasn’t supposed to be used to punish people). I’ve had my own concerns with Metros, which is why I was worried that this is not an aberration. I hate to see people addressed in such a crass and demeaning manner. This is why I am bringing it to your attention, with the request for intervention. Perhaps Metros should just stay away from this editor and focus elsewhere?

I also hope this isn't first news you see that his RfA hasn't started out highly successfully... but who knows maybe it will have turned around by the time you read this.

Hey Keep, hope you were able to read my long comment to Mall. Despite his suggestion as to my vote in his response, I believe I'm just gonna stick with the silent neutral in the case. The reason? I have to say I am beyond confused on this RfA, for so many reasons. It's funny, I had a 2000 byte follow up response to Mall... which I read a few times, then erased (never posted), and stepped away. I'm glad he seems to be OK with everything, hope you are too. There are many editors such as Fritz Poll and myself who have turned down adminship. I have 154,000 edits but still haven't been made an admin. This is partly due to the reaosn I try to solely concentrate on encyclopedia content. Sometimes I agree having just rollback rights is silly when i sometimes need admin tools for certain tasks ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 10:17, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

I've just looked at the latest tally, and I have to say that I'm taking some encouragement from the fact that although it has the highest number of opposes of any of the current candidates, it's still keeping its head above water at over 50%. It's possible though that I'm looking at this the wrong way. If I am, please don't wake me up.  -- Malleus Fatuorum ( talk) 23:54, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. The majority of the opposes stated that I needed more experience in the main namespace and Wikipedia namespace and talk space, so that is what I will do. I have made a list and I hope I will be able to get through it. I will go for another RfA in about three month's time and I hope you will be able to support me then as well. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been about three months. I will not be checking back to this page so if you would like to comment or reply please use my talk page. Thanks again for participating in my RfA! ·Add§hore· Talk/ Cont 06:32, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

I hadn't read the part of the Wikipedia Manual of Style, on article title capitilazation, so this barnstar is for you for reverting my move of the non-renewable resources page when I didn't know what I was doing. P.S. You even inspired me to read the whole Manual of Style. Matthew Petrites ( talk) 03:00, 22 May 2008 (UTC) |
Keep - unrelated, but didn't feel I needed to start a new topic. Keep an eye on me here. Certainly this might be a touchy way of doing things, but after analyzing the situation, I felt it neccesary. I'm definitely not canvassing you to come over and back me up... rather watch and comment on my conduct as needed. Thanks Gwynand | Talk• Contribs 19:09, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
<outdent>Found some light to shine on this in archives (it was bugging me)... this question was asked, and the response is this was the response.

I might like to co-nom this. I've never nominated anyone before, but think this might be a time I would consider it. Just to answer your question seriously, IF you gave me a chance to revote on Tan's first RfA, I probably would have gone Neutral on it... still due to lack of experience issues. When he goes up for RfA now, he will have met the magic 6 month of active editing figure, which is about my minimum. As for Fritz, he should probably pass as well, but that doesn't mean that I'll support. Balloonman ( talk) 16:54, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello! :) In March, Brain in a Jar (Dungeons & Dragons) was nominated for deletion. At the time, there was no suitable page for this article to be redirected to, so based on the consensus, you deleted the article. I have created a new page, List of Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 edition monsters, which would be a proper destination to merge and/or redirect the article to. I'm wondering if it's possible to restore the original article, and turn it into a redirect, thus preserving the edit history? BOZ ( talk) 20:04, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

However I may just think it might be time to acceot but I'll need a think about it OK? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:02, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Obviously I wouldn't do anything because I'm involved on the article but is it report worthy to AIV for spam? It's a clear SPA, he was the creator and has been spamming elsewhere. It's not vandalism and it's not a promotional username, but it's spammy. Does it land under anything? Thanks! PS: So not talking to you this weekend ;) TravellingCari the Busy Bee 16:40, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
I replied to your message on my talk page. Pri ma Fac ist 17:02, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
It seems Gwen has removed the lessage I left there. I am unhappy with this, as I see it as her using her admin powers to silence me. Can you advise me on what to do? 137.195.250.2 ( talk) 20:51, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Just letting you know that another account has popped up: LegitAltAccount. Please see the bottom of the discussion. D.M.N. ( talk) 21:27, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I replied on my talk page, and then Malleus posted a message, and I thought some more, and so I replied again, saying effectivelt "let's do it now, then!" DDStretch (talk) 01:24, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Ok. Now all done and transcluded. Just waiting to be crushed by innumerable extra optional questions. DDStretch (talk) 11:33, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
[7]. I find it distressing that this WP:SPA or WP:SOCK decided to use my username as a basis for his agenda. I haven't been monitoring ANI as heavily as I used to, so I came across this situation rather late and indirectly. I wish the user had left me out of it. Wisdom89 ( T / C) 02:33, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
<Free the colons!>Just read the thread. You (and Gwynand) both made excellent points, and the irony of that drama laced thread did not escape me. I also followed the trail back to Martin's thread, and was very impressed with your post there too Gwynand. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 15:02, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Ecoleetage ( talk) 15:45, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
I'd like to thank the other users who have backed me up here. It would have been nice to been made aware of this conversation, but whatever. I have no real response because A. I'll let the actions I took speak for themselves and B. everyone's basically captured what I wanted to say. Metros ( talk) 16:26, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Keeper, you don't know Eco Lee Tage! :) Ecoleetage ( talk) 16:41, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
I need to run folks, some really weird stuff just came up IRL - can't explain now, gotta go. I may be gone a few days, hopefully not longer - will someone please tag my user/user talk with wiki-break templates? Also, keep an eye on my RfA candidate Ddstretch. OK this technologically challenged person is feeling left out. What's an .ogg file and how to I play it using a Mac? TravellingCari the Busy Bee 21:56, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
so they interviewed him on the pre-game this evening. I cannpt believe he's an announcer. Don't remember his debut but I do remember him with the Twinkies in the 80s. Scary. He has the same broken baseball engrish of other commentators. "The Twins have pulled to with 2 games behind and closed to 2nd between the the White Sox" Um?? Good game tonight, I realise you may not have watched it due to whatever is going on, but yeah....can't not talk about this series with you :) TravellingCari the Busy Bee 03:16, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
mmm...who stole the Yankees' bats today? I wasn't their luck charm, that's why. Didn't get to watch. TravellingCari the Busy Bee 03:26, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
{Colon farm} it is a 7p EST time, which I consider odd for games in Central Time (or is Minnesota mountain? I don't think so). Either way, not complaining. 8 pm starts I can deal, it's the 10p+ that kill me when I have to get up. I don't like Fri-Mon series because they knock everything off kilter. Supposed to be early on getaway which makes sense for Sunday but not non-holiday Monday. I hate day games in general because I never get to see them and there's the huge SNY ticker between my office and grand Central so I can't not be spoiled. And Enigma, I'm also all about the VCR. DVR is above me TravellingCari the Busy Bee 19:07, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
