I do have a question regarding the article for "Sophia Lamar" and whether or not it meets the criteria for notability under WP:BIO. It has no sources, reads like a glowing review, and might have been submitted/edited by the subject of the article (see the article's discussion page). I just don't think it meets the criteria of WP:BIO as specified for an entertainer. I tried asking for help on the IRC channel and got nowhere. Hello Dear Hexa,
In the past few days I been trying to update some stuff and put a make-up on some of the articles. I am not Good in Wikipedia and i am not sure how it works, I am trying my best and i have read some pages where it teaches us few step etc.
For example I don't know what to do, when someone changes the article in which I tried my best to make sure there is no confusion, and make sure the facts are there with proves/Sources/Links etc etc. Now can you please have a look at this article, Khalilullah Khalili, where i made some changes yesterday, and i tried to provide sources, now I was told its better to have a well known researched sources that can be easily accessible, for example a researched/documented website. So that's what i did. I am my self an Afghan, born in Afghanistan and came here not long ago. I guess that's personal, now What matters are the facts. Anyways I edited the article taking my time well, and provided accessible sources, and to make sure there is no confusion to where i get my main points/ from, I came up with references. Today it was changed by one of the users, named Tajik and the article which he wants on wikipedia, contradicts with few of the facts, creating further confusion.
So I don't know what to do? Should I such Rv back to yesterday's edition, or Should I just leave it as it is despite its greater confusion, another reason for people to ignore Wikipedia, simply because one person has taken over.
Please have a look at the article, it would be very appropriated. Thanks

thanks for your kind advice

Hello! I'm very new to Wikipedia, and have tried to find an answer to my question in the faq and other instructional pages, but am still unsure of how to proceed.
I added info to some pages for a band called the Smalls, only to have it removed by another user. In the history pages, this particular user (Delicious Carbuncle) shows a pattern of removing information. A third user (Strobilus) and I have both tried using the talk pages and are met with pedantic refusal to discuss the issue. I don't believe Delicious Carbuncle would agree to moderation, so I would like to have this user blocked from destroying these pages. If you could offer me any assistance or direction in this matter, I would appreciate it.

I did fix a number of fair use rationales. However, for image uses that I believe to be in violation of NFC, I won't bother to write rationales. Album cover art rarely belongs on pages about the artist in question. I wasn't trying to create more work for anybody; I was trying to bring articles in line with our policies. Seems like you disagree. Care to explain a bit further in case I'm missing something? If you want, we can ask as media copyright question to get outside input, because I still don't believe enough has been done to the article, nor the rationale for those Aphex Twin album covers to belong on that page. Hopefully, you'll reconsider, and we can simply agree now to remove those images! Thank you for your consideration.- Andrew c [talk] 04:25, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks so much for the welcome on my talk page and for the feedback on properly editing articles. I really appreciate your help. I do have a question. The article that I edited on WikiAnswers has been marked as 'written like an advertisement'. I don't understand this at all. All informational is factual, of reference nature and is actually very similar to how others have edited Facebook, Yahoo! Answers, etc. here on Wikipedia. Could you please let me know where I went wrong?
Thanks so much!

You are right that the project is not really being managed. I have most articles on my watchlist, and do minor style corrections (and reverts) in response to edits, but that's about all. Regarding articles that should be deleted, maybe you've seen my rant about certain articles from a couple of months ago. Regarding your own list of possible AfDs, which are mostly song articles, I believe every Pink Floyd song currently has an article, which I realize is a situation that some would frown upon. There was a recent discussion somewhere about whether every song by the Beatles should have an article, and I had to agree with the argument that they should, but can't justify extending that to Pink Floyd. On the other hand, I think an article should stay if it contains one or two interesting facts, which many of the articles on your list do. On the other-other hand, those articles also contain a lot of fluff/OR/reviewer analysis/uncited & uncitable claims, so maybe that's why you chose them. Anyway, I would prefer to fix up articles instead of deleting them, and do recognize that not all Pink Floyd song articles are worth fixing. Example of a fix: back on October, the article for "Chapter 24" looked like [4], and was removed by another user. I thought to myself, dang, that was an article that I thought should be expanded, and was meaning to get around to doing that, so I immediately did some research, and today it looks like this. I'm not saying every PF song article could be improved like this. But if fluff can be removed, and a few notable facts left behind, then an article is worth preserving. Back to the subject of overhauling the whole project: In the past I tried to get the project page itself updated (there were a lot of redlinks on it), and found it hard to get a response. I'm reluctant to dive into a big project, with little support, that will likely turn into a cabal war. Putting out feelers for big changes, such as the PF talk page rant mentioned above, has received very little response. -- A Knight Who Says Ni ( talk) 02:02, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

I am not sure that adding the rescue tag to the article First Canyon Rain was really a good idea. There is no reasonable possibility that sufficient sources will be found to meet the objections at the AfD since films not yet in production are almost never notable. The tag is more effective when there is a real chance of rescuing an article. It is so inappropriate, that I'm removing the tag. It is important not to let it fall into disrepute. I'm not saying its accurate. It looks like it is. Like i said on the talk page (i followed protocol) its not remotely relevant to the article. In the talk section there has yet to be a good reason given why it is relevant to the article. It would be like posting random quote section to a page about a person who belongs to a group. The quotes have NO relevance to the article and should be removed. W4uncw ( talk) 19:56, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Why is it the rule that it stays then? Shouldn't the rule be that the person posting much give ample reason rather then someone like be being punished for reverting what is irrelevant? How can this stay merely because he doesn't agree that its irrelevant? What do you think as an outsider? At least then its not him getting his way merely because he wont agree and form consensus. I edited Wikipedia for a few years and know how much of a pain in the ass it is. Anyway, if the vandalism doesn't stop from the IP (and I doubt it will, since the high school kids come here after school in droves), don't hesitate to block. However, my only problem is with account creation. Please don't disable account creation; this is a public library and for many people, it's their only Internet access. Thanks for the welcome!
Your thoughts? cswpride ( talk) 13:39, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
You have been helping fight vandalism inflicted by various IP sockpuppets of the blocked User:Korlzor. You may be interested in a sockpuppetry case I have opened here. Best regards. Tennis expert ( talk) 10:22, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
You think the Phil Tadros article didn't read like an advertisement to his business with external links and that he had notability? He's a local businessman. He's not even officially launched a campaign for congress. Just curious what made the article notable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.175.17.15 ( talk) 21:47, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks

Dear Hexachord thanks for your advice. I did what you asked me to do so, but unfortunately the article is still being changed, and i have this difficulty dealing the same IP user names. what happens if we continue this so called "War edit" and i was wondering i did my best to explain and provided sources as you said which were required, but what happens when people continuously change the stuff which i have touched.
thanks for your kind advice
bye

Thanks! Donnaredding ( talk) 02:01, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Oh sorry! http://en.wikipedia.org/?title=The_Smalls_(album)&action=history and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Delicious_carbuncle (second from last at the bottom I think)
All of the albums pages are unilaterally removed without discussion. Donnaredding ( talk) 02:00, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Hi. You put {{hoax}} tags on a lot of articles about unreleased Guns N'Roses songs. There seems to be plenty of evidence on the web that they exist, e.g. [2] and [3]. Whether they are notable is another matter, but {{hoax}} doesn't seem an appropriate tag. Did you have some particular reason for it? Regards, JohnCD ( talk) 09:36, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi HexaChord!

The statements made are not relevant to the article. I did make that clear and I gave a reason. Please to revert and claim I didnt give a reason when i clearly did (over and over) —Preceding unsigned comment added by W4uncw ( talk • contribs) 19:09, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Correction, we discussed it on the user who posted it's page. Not on the actual OS page. Should I repost what i said on his page? W4uncw ( talk) 20:03, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
W4uncw ( talk) 20:18, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
There are now TWO different people who agree with me that it has no relevance and yet he refuses to take it down. In addition he calls this censorship? Censorship in a totally unrelated issue that I had nothing to do with, and yet still blames "you" like I personally am out to get him. At what point does it get changed so I dont get in trouble??? Because obviously I cant change it... W4uncw ( talk) 14:38, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

I realize I'm not likely to talk you into !voting Merge over Keep, but when the AfD discussion is closed, would you help with merging the stubs into Master of Reality and finding sources for the content of the stubs? I'm 198.111.167.130 ( talk). Sorry about the vandalism coming from this IP, it's a public library and nothing can really be done about it. If you block account creation and anonymous editing, you're cutting these people off entirely for something they didn't even do. But do what you must.

What are good things to do to help out here? That is the most constructive? I read the pages you posted on my talk page (Five Pillars...etc. ) but what is it YOU think needs doin? I end up doing a lot of undoing vandalism, but it seems likes a lit of others already do that, because before I can finish, someone else has done the job. So out of each corrected reversed vandalism I have to edit 5-8 pages til I get credit? Any way to do this faster, or see when someone else has already started? Oh- and how do I go about earning enough props to get barnstars? Is it only luck, or....Thanks in advance for reply,?
