The
2008-2009 college football season has kicked off, and it's time to kick into full gear! Teams ranked in the top 25 should have a single-season page or at the very least a separate football page. Rankings pages and the overall season page should be kept updated, as should the pages of players of note.
Heading out to a football game? Be sure to carry a camera and get pictures of players, teams, stadiums, and all the action and pageantry of college football. An excellent guide to taking pictures for WP:CFB can be found at
Wikipedia:WikiProject College football/Images. Even if you don't think a photo can be immediately used for an article, try uploading it to
Wikimedia Commons so future article authors can use it.
The
College Football Portal needs to be updated with featured articles and pictures. Do you have a great picture that illustrates the best of college football? Consider adding it to the featured image queue on the portal.
Welcome to the latest issue of the College football WikiProject newsletter! I hope that you're enjoying regular updates about the goings on of college football on Wikipedia, but if not, feel free to add your name to the "no delivery" section on
the newsletter signup page.
I encourage everyone to make regular visits to the
College Football Portal and perhaps make it your Wikipedia entry page instead of using the Main Page as your gateway. Nominations for selected articles and pictures are always welcome, and can serve as a great way to show off that new article you just shepherded to Good Article status or the great picture you took the last time you were at a game.
Comments and suggestions on improving the newsletter are always welcome, and help me improve it on a monthly basis. Keep contributing and editing, and don't hesitate to contact me or post on the
College Football Wikiproject talk page if you need help or just want someone to look over your article.
Articles for the more popular and "star" players of the league need to be expanded, have citations added to them and hopefully we can get some
GA's out of them.
All articles on active players and coaches need to be updated with stats, news, and all things important. (Note: For stats it's best to use
ArenaFan.)
Also, we NEED to get things done so we can take them off of the to do list.
Project members are currently working to decide on a roster template to use on all
arena football team pages.
The infobox that is for
af2 players only is completed and working well. If anyone notices that colors are not correct, please find the hex code for the proper colors and let me (Crash Underride) know. I have currently place in the closest colors I could find.
Current Events
It has been
confirmed that
Pittsburgh is a strong candidate for a new Arena Football League team, along with
Boston and South
Florida, although there is no timeline on the league's expansion.
Mike Bawden and Friday Night Football Inc.
transferred majority ownership of the
Quad City Steamwheelers to Alan Millage and Joe Sisler and A&J Football Inc.
On
September 2,
1966Joe Auer returns the opening kickoff 95 yards for a Miami Dolphins touchdown in the Dolphins' first regular-season game, but
Oakland wins the game, 23-14 at the
Orange Bowl before 26,776 spectators.
On
September 4,
1994 Miami Dolphins quarterback
Dan Marino throws five touchdown passes in the Dolphins' 39-35 win over
New England to set an NFL record with his 18th game of four-or-more touchdown passes.
On
September 5,
1994San Francisco wide receiver
Jerry Rice caught two touchdown passes and ran for another in a 44-14 victory over the Raiders to surpass
Jim Brown as the NFL's career touchdowns leader with 127.
Our goal is to get the number of Stub-Class articles down to 0, in due time. The current article count is listed below, I have placed the forumla that is on the project page that is updated everytime the bot is run and it tallies up our articles and where they are and lists them as seen below, so that no one has to worry about making sure it's updated manually before the newsletter is sent out. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could help expand and/or source an article or two. A list is provided in the stub-class category of stub articles that need to be improved, and some should be fairly easy.

Hey Crash Underride, I'm Burner0718. I created a wiki for video game reviews and I thought you'd be interested. Here's the
link. Cheers!

We have now reached our goal of getting the number of Stub-Class articles below 600. The current count is 586. It still would be greatly appreciated if anyone could help expand and/or source an article or two. A list has been placed on the
stub article subpage of stub articles of well-known wrestlers that should be fairly easy to improve.
Nathan Jones was injured in
Thailand, after he was hit by a truck. Jones had recently signed a deal with
TNA, but will now be out for at least 3 months.
Collaboration of the Week
The
Collaboration of the Week has recently been revamped, and we will now have 6 collaborations at a time. The current collaborations will stand until they reach a certain
goal, e.g.
Good article status.

I would like to solicit feedback concerning moving this to
Adam Jones (football). It makes sense to me, but is there consensus? Please opine in the section of the article talk page. Cheers,
