Hi. I'm Wtmitchell, and I would like to provide some more information on the warnings above, which regard reverts of edits by you changing the infobox title from Australia to Sahul or Sahul (Australia). One of those warnings was placed there by me. I'll be a bit long winded here as I see that you have made just two edits, and seem to be new to Wikipedia. I'll also place a welcome message containing useful information and links at the top of this page.
First, on your edits themselves -- the documentation on the {{
Infobox continent}} template says that the {{{title}}}
parameter should contain the name of the article where the infobox is located. The title of the article is Australia (continent), but it is quite common in Wikipedia to omit the parenthesized part of article titles (called a "Parenthetical disambiguation" -- see
WP:AT#Disambiguation) when mentioning such articles.
WP:COMMONNAME, part of
Wikipedia's policy on article titles says that commonly recognized names are preferred in article titles -- hence the choice of "Australia" vs. "Sahul". If you disagree with that for this article, please discuss your thoughts at
Talk:Australia (continent).
Second, on the warnings themselves -- warnings such as these are commonly, but not always, placed on the talk pages of users whose edits are reverted. Such warnings carry with them a "warning level", and that warning level generally escalates as more warnings are placed. Because of the warnings above, you are now at warning level two (of four). In order to get back to warning level zero, the warnings need to be removed or archived. User Racerx11, who placed the other warning, and I had a bit of a discussion about that on my user talk page -- feel free to look at that, but I'll probably move it into User talk:Wtmitchell/Archive 9 (2015) in a few days. In any case, take a look at WP:REMOVED regarding removal of the warnings.
I hope that explains things sufficiently. If not, feel free to ask on my talk page. Cheers, and welcome to Wikipedia. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 06:37, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
