I am trying to understand why the Theta Alpha Omega page I wrote was deleted. I stated on its talk page that I was the owner of the content that I had "infringed" (thetaalphaomega.com) and that I was pursuing donating said content for public use. I also added the proper hangon tag to the main page. Then, while I was trying to figure out exactly how to notify Wikipedia that I was indeed the registered owner of the content, the page gets deleted. What is the purpose of using a hangon tag if the speedy deletion still happens speedily?

Hi. :) List articles are a pain. :/ They are copyrightable to the extent that there is creativity in the information or the presentation. The information seems entirely uncreative, but I'm not so sure about the presentation. Presentation is deemed uncreative if it is the bog standard way to present such information and the same way that most people would do it given the same set of facts. I'd agree that the information in each listing (taking #1 for example: "1 (Boston 13s) Lance Gaines: Full-Back ") is probably bog standard, but putting the team first and in parentheses seems a bit unusual to me (given my vast inexperience with sports). I would say that this one falls into the "if in doubt..." standard of WP:C ("If in doubt, write the content yourself, thereby creating a new copyrighted work which can be included in Wikipedia without trouble.") and if I had encountered it on my own, undeleted, I would have reworked it for safety's sake. I probably would have turned it into a table or something and put team affiliation last. I'll leave it to you guys to determine if it's worth restoring. :) -- Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:25, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Article of the month –
2010 Carfax 400, a recent good article
The 2010 Carfax 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held on August 15, 2010 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. Contested over 200 laps, it was the twenty-third race of the 2010 Sprint Cup Series season. The race was won by Kevin Harvick for the Richard Childress Racing team. Denny Hamlin finished second, and Carl Edwards, who started twenty-fourth, clinched third. Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead into the first corner to begin the race, but Jimmie Johnson, who started in the second position on the grid, took the lead before the first lap was over. Afterward, Greg Biffle became the leader, and would eventually lead to the race high of 66 laps. Tony Stewart led after the final pit stops, ahead of Hamlin and Harvick. Harvick helped Hamlin to become the leader, but with twelve laps left, Harvick gained on Hamlin and claimed the first position with eleven lap remaining. Harvick maintained his position to claim his first Sprint Cup victory at Michigan International Speedway. There were five cautions and nineteen lead changes among nine different drivers throughout the course of the race, Harvick's third win of the season. The result maintained the first position in the Drivers' Championship and clinched him a position in the Chase. He remained 293 points ahead of second place driver Jeff Gordon and 353 ahead of Denny Hamlin. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, thirty points ahead of Toyota and sixty-one ahead of Ford, with thirteen races remaining in the season. A total of 105,000 people attended the race, while 4.917 million watched it on television. Hello Airplaneman,
How've you been? You were so kind in welcoming me to wikipedia, I thought I'd ask you about this. I've been dipping into wikipedia now and again. Mostly I look for articles I can add value to through research or editing or fact-checking. I happened to see a section of Cher's page with no inline citations. I added a whole bunch, but I found it quite challenging to find verifiable sources. Mostly, the basis for the facts was circular: the sites cut and pasted from the wiki or had completely unsourced material that repeated the same "facts."
I'd really appreciate any suggestions you'd have about this. One of the great things about wikipedia it seems to me is that it's so inclusive. It's a shame when appropriate verifiable sources cannot be found for sections of writing for all appearances are written by someone who knows their subject well and cares about it.
Any thoughts?
Hope all is well.

Yes. If it still isn't working, I'm not sure what's up... (looks like there's a thread on your talk about this as well). Airplaneman ✈ 04:39, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
