About me

Well, where to start? I'm in my late twenties and living in Southern England. I only came to Wikipedia in early 2008 after watching it on the sidelines for many years. I'm a graduate in Information Systems Engineering from the University of Surrey and have been programming for most of my life. Currently, I'm finding gainful employment at a mobile telecommunications company. As such, I tend to avoid such topics due to a potential conflict of interest, although I'll help where I can. I am a passionate Brit and take pride in my heritage, from Stonehenge to Guy Fawkes. The history of this little island and its impact on the world has always been something that fascinates me, even if it makes me an eccentric Englishman.

So, why videogames? Quite simply, they are an incredible work of art that is substantially misrepresented in modern culture. Today, videogames earn more money than movies or music, yet are critically analysed, reviewed and discussed only a tiny fraction of that time. There are great directors, actors, singers and songwriters, while only a chosen few games professionals are recognised for their work. It's a remarkable imbalance, but in an industry that can have a huge number of contributors to a single title, it is hardly surprising. I also play a huge amount of videogames, from first-person shooters to MMORPGs. Currently, I'm balancing my time between Guitar Hero III, World of Warcraft and Age of Conan. I'm still trying to squeeze in a little time for Mario Kart Wii and Super Mario Galaxy, given time. All this while holding down a full time job and working on-wiki. Amazing.

I'm also a fan of Role-playing games, including Earthdawn, Dungeons and Dragons and others. I also play board games including Talisman, Blood Bowl and so on. I've even been known to turn my hand to larp on occasion.
