I like the infobox, its badly needed, itl help keep the stats together. I put the info box on the Shane Ryan page to see how it looks. Should we remove the Appearances line, it'd be very hard to find those statistics. Frainc 00:41 May 28th
Looks good i'm goin to ask user:Boothy443 for some help with the code ( Gnevin 15:44, 28 May 2006 (UTC))
How about changing the scoring bit to League 2006, and Championship 2006. It'd be easier to update on a yearly basis?

I've finished my major update to the infobox here the fields . Fields in italics are required

What dya write in the infobox to account for NFL titles? Frainc 15:25 8 Sept 2006
I take it this only is for Championship matchea and not NFL? ( Derry Boi 13:15, 15 September 2006 (UTC))
Am stuck for ideas for dual players if i just add all the titles ect again the infobox will be far to long and is a non runner in my opinion. My idea is User:Gnevin/sandbox3 this has the down side of making the infobox too wide any idea would be helpful ( Gnevin 13:50, 15 September 2006 (UTC))
Is this just All-Ireland Senior Club Championship titles?
For example Enda Muldoon has won an All-Ireland Senior Club Championship medal AND a Kilmacrud Crokes 7s All-Ireland medal. Should we count this as one, or as two (with a note at the bottom)?
( Derry Boi 14:00, 16 September 2006 (UTC))
Why does "Gaelic football" or "Gaelic games" wrap to the next line when entered as the players sport? There seems to be plenty of room in one line. I just think it looks a bit messy. Scolaire 17:53, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Should there not be an entry in the player infoboxes for their jobs?? Just a thought.-- Macca7174 02:10, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Could you make it that the infobox incorporates templates?? useful ones are {{ template:Birth date and age}} (keeps the age of the player up to date, changing it on his/her birthdate), {{ template:death date and age}} (calculates age of player at date of death), {{ template:height}} (converts metric and imperial units in height). see Peter Canavan for examples of a few of them (obviously, not death date)-- Macca7174 19:45, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Following the recent nomination for deletion of Template:Infobox GAA dualplayer, I've had a go at merging it with Template:Infobox GAA player in the sandbox ( permalink). It appears to work reasonably well. However, at the moment:
There are a few testcases listed at Template:Infobox GAA player/testcases, but it could use a few more. I could do with some help finding new and exciting ways to break it, and some consensus on whether it is suitable (or can be made suitable) for deployment, or if it ends up making things too complicated altogether. Teester ( talk) 11:29, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

In Des Ferguson, this template is generating the link All-Irelands in the infobox - i.e. to a DAB page, instead of the correct target of All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. Could someone take a look at this problem, please? Narky Blert ( talk) 19:44, 17 March 2018 (UTC)
These are proposals to include two additional types of parameters in this infobox (both are already found in Template:Infobox person and are implied by the inclusion of others in this infobox but not specifically included here).
#1: Addition of 'education' and 'alma_mater'
Currently there is place only only for the college team details of the player if the player attended a third-level institution. This links to the relevant team ( UCD GAA, DCU GAA, UCC GAA, etc). The addition of 'alma_mater' would allow for the inclusion of the name of the third-level institution ( University College Dublin, Dublin City University, University College Cork, etc) which surely precedes the team - the player attends as a student before joining the team. There is also the possibility that a player has attended a third-level institution without playing for its team, though having played for a county. The addition (above 'occupation' as seen at the 'person' infobox) would look as follows:
| feet = | inches = | nickname = | education = | alma_mater = | occupation =
#2: Addition of 'home_town' and 'residence'
Currently, only the 'birthplace' parameter is included. In many cases a player may have been born in a town they would not consider their home town (a town that happens to have a hospital). A player may have been born in Sligo or Clonmel but may consider their home town to be Nenagh or Tubbercurry. Likewise, where they live now might be different. The addition (based on the 'person' infobox) would look as follows:
| death_date = | death_place = | residence = | home_town = | feet = | inches = | nickname =

Template:Infobox Gaelic Athletic Association player → Template:Infobox Gaelic games player – The player plays the sport(s) - in this case Gaelic games. Having the governing body in the title would be like having a Template:Infobox Football Association player or Template:Infobox FIFA player. It is also a shorter title. 2001:BB6:A32:6E58:7DA2:A7E3:A5FD:AA77 ( talk) 21:53, 14 February 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. В²C ☎ 23:15, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
This infobox doesn't work well for camogie or for female players in general. We could add a new parameter for gender (is there a standard name and value for that?) or produce a copy of the template for women's sports. I'm happy to help but would welcome advice on which of those routes to follow. Some links such as All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship are obvious but we'll need an expert to provide a list of relevant cups etc. Previous discussion here. Any thoughts please? Just had a look at Brian Cody's article and there's no information in his infobox at all about his role as a manager, which is more iconic than his playing career. I suggest we add in parameters in regards to managerial stats. Alex Ferguson's infobox for example, has stats and data from his playing and management career. Template:Infobox Gaelic Athletic Association player → Template:Infobox Gaelic games player – As per the recent renaming here. It looks likes the infobox was moved to " Gaelic Athletic Association" to overcome the " GAA" disambiguation issue at its original title of "Infobox GAA player" - " in full" is what the edit summary says. But the infobox is also used for camogie players. The Camogie Association oversees this game, not the Gaelic Athletic Association. The infobox is also used for players of ladies' Gaelic football. The Ladies' Gaelic Football Association oversees that, not the Gaelic Athletic Association. The proposed title aligns it with others, such as Template:Infobox Gaelic games county board, Template:Infobox Gaelic games county team, Template:Infobox Gaelic games manager and Template:Infobox Gaelic games tournament. "Gaelic games" is also more CONCISE. Gaois ( talk) 21:32, 5 December 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. – robertsky ( talk) 00:21, 14 December 2022 (UTC)
