It seems that the article Wilson's model of Information Behavior is essentially a version of this one. I propose merging any useful additional information from that page and redirecting here. Kafziel Complaint Department: Please take a number 16:59, 22 November 2013 (UTC) reply

Wilson's model is only one kind of information seeking behaviour. There are a number of different models and theories. Wilson's model has served as a foundation for these other models, but is not synonymous with the over-arching field of information seeking behaviour. We believe Wilson's model is complex enough that it should be explored in-depth in its own article. It would make sense to provide a link from the Information Seeking Behaviour to this independent article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.157.166.56 ( talk) 19:33, 26 November 2013 (UTC) reply

Conflating Wilson's model with the article discussing Information Behavior et al. would be like combining the pages on French Cooking and Julia Childs' Mastering the Art of French Cooking— one is a subset of the other but they are not synonymous and definitely belong on separate pages. Looks like consensus to not merge, so removing the templates after 3 years. Klbrain ( talk) 16:44, 20 December 2016 (UTC) reply

I apologize to have raised this again. Currently, I do not see any mention to the specific model from anywhere but the author himself and the more general lemma. Plus, the limited references on Wilson's model -exclusively by Wilson himself- suggest that the general relevance of this model might be rather limited. -- Kku ( talk) 12:06, 24 May 2023 (UTC) reply
I think that a merge would unbalance the target, particularly given that so much of the work is a summart of Wilson's work; perhaps a better target might be Thomas D. Wilson, with the summary kept at Information behavior#Wilson's theory of information behavior (1981). Klbrain ( talk) 18:35, 18 November 2023 (UTC) reply

Major revisions January - April 2020

This article will undergo major revisions on my behalf between now and April. This work is part of a directed study for a PhD level directed study in Library and Information Science. The goal of this work will to change the article so that it represents information behavior models, theories, and research methods from the introduction of information needs and uses by Wilson (1981) to present research that looks beyond information seeking and at behaviour associated with information. I am a doctoral candidate at Western University in London, Canada. Mcbrarian ( talk) 15:16, 9 February 2020 (UTC) reply

Thanks for your recent efforts on making the "Information behavior" article distinct from articles on related fields.--- DOOMSDAYER520 ( Talk| Contribs) 18:09, 9 February 2020 (UTC) reply

I totally agree. Currently, this metamodel appears to revolve around itself and the essence is already captured in the main article. I'll go for it. -- Kku ( talk) 05:17, 24 May 2023 (UTC) reply
