Hey you! Do you dislike unfinished objects? Are you on the autism spectrum? A bit obsessive compulsive? Or do you simply like to make Wikipedia a little bit better? Great! Then join the ICD-11 code challenge! See this thread at WT:MED for further information. Yours sincerely, Manifestation ( talk) 13:11, 14 January 2024 (UTC)

Talk:Julian Jaynes#It needs to be made clearer that his overall hypothesis is WP:FRINGE.
Summary: Aspects of his hypothesis having "inspired" some later research doesn't equate to his work being proven correct, and cognitive science, evolutionary psychology, and related displines decreasingly support it, most especially his central notion that consciousness only arose a few millennia ago. Furthermore, it was proposed at that article to move it and reshape it into an article on the book, since the person is not notable for anything other than one book. Instead, the subject has been WP:CFORKed (arguably WP:POVFORKed) into two further articles ( The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind, and bicameral mentality). The bio mostly just repeats claims from the book article (but with barely any hint of controversy or challenge, and strong suggestions of influence), while the book article is mostly just repetition of what is said at the hypothesis article (but without much of the critical material from the latter).
It is thus proposed to merge these into a single article on the hypothesis, the book it came from, and who wrote it, with all the critical material present, and expanded by more recent work on consciousness and cognitition. Even if they were not merged, they have to stop viewpoint-forking (and coatracking of the hypothesis across all three articles).
Anyway, please follow up at the Talk:Julian_Jaynes discussion thread, so this stays centralized. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 14:21, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
Having consulted with the maths people about this, I have been enlightened to the fact that the most basic concepts of orientation (i.e., that objects have a top, bottom, front, back, and sides) are as much a psychological phenomenon as a physical one. It is frankly amazing that for over 20 years, Wikipedia has had no explanation of this concept at this level (starting, rather, with much more complex anatomical and mathematical concepts of orientation and directionality). Any help in getting this article off the ground would be appreciated! BD2412 T 03:35, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
We are preparing to start a project to translate content related to psychology, science communication and data analysis, and we would like to know your opinion about this project. Comments, criticism and suggestions are welcome!
The organization Helping Give Away Psychological Science promotes the dissemination of content related to psychology, both to the general public (including through Wikipedia) and to students and professional psychologists (for example, through Wikiversity). The recording of training and lectures promoted by the organization generated a series of videos, currently available on Youtube, in English. Now, HGAPS is preparing to start a project to translate and generate dubbing for its videos using artificial intelligence. The proposal aims to test the feasibility and effect (in terms of number of views) of making dubbed versions of the aforementioned videos available. It also will generate a step by step guide about how to use free/open source software to do AI dubbing.
Three teams are involved in the project. Organizers are volunteers of Helping Give Away Psychological Science, and the rest of the teams will be psychology students invited to join the project. A Brazilian team will be located in Porto Alegre and linked to the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. A Mexican team will be located in San Andrés Cholula, and linked to the Universidad de las Américas Puebla.
With this project, we hope to contribute to the integration of AI to facilitate the dissemination of scientific knowledge, in addition to expanding the availability of the content directly translated by the project. In the case of Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking populations in Latin America, this could increase the accessibility of the content for about 600 million people. However, we hope that this initiative can generalize further in the future, by the dissemination of the methods we will be employing. Also, future directions can include the translation of lectures by scientists in different countries to English, thus contributing to increase the visibility and plurality of science worldwide. Hi. I’ve begun a discussion on the Polyvagal theory Talk page that I think would interest members of this Wikiproject. Talk:Polyvagal theory #Discussion: representation of one author’s viewpoint. The discussion involves the representation of a minority viewpoint as the definitive word on the theory’s tenability. Ian Oelsner ( talk) 22:06, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
