People generally pronounce it the way it is spelt where they live (i.e. "aluminum" in the USA and sometimes in Canada, "aluminium" everywhere else).

Reactivity of group 16 elements by chemical reaction
The last few years, excessive use of semicolon is observed in Wikipedia. It appears a whopping 67 times in this article.

And colons appear 261 times, while my computer gave up on counting commas after a thousand. What makes 67 unreasonable?

There are some places where it might be better suited to have a period, but the article is >7,500 words long. Some things are better expressed with semicolons.
