I think that typing in UNC should redirect to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and have a link to the disambig page at the top. Clearly, the most searched for of the UNC topics on the disambig page is the university. Anybody have any thoughts on the matter, any approvals or objections? "UNC" can refer to either the University of North Carolina (system) or the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. To avoid confusion, the University of North Carolina (system) is rarely referred to as simply "UNC" but is usually referred to as the "UNC system." Again, the criteria used on Wikipedia to decide what page is the primary page for a particular entry such as "UNC" is the likelihood that someone typing in "UNC" is searching for a particular page. It is much more likely that someone typing in "UNC" is looking for UNC-Chapel Hill and not the UNC system, and, therefore, "UNC" should redirect to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There is a link at the top of the UNC-Chapel Hill page that links to the UNC disambiguation page and the UNC system is listed there. Please stop changing the redirect. If this is changed its going to have to go through WP:RM anyway, since there is already a dab at UNC (disambiguation). Also see my point the talk page of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill that the trademark is that of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Since there is a pre-existing discussion at Talk:University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, please address comments there. Thanks. Hippo ( talk) 14:42, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Again, UNC refers to the system. Please see [ [1]]. UNC-Chapel Hill is only a constituent university. Please can someone other than a Chapel Hill grad get involved in this discussion? 143.165.8.50 ( talk) 19:12, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Umm, no. This should be a disambiguation page, as it was for a long time. You only redirect when one usage is overwhelmingly dominant. Clearly there is no dominant usage of UNC. It isn't like the University of North Carolina is especially well known outside of the US. Guettarda ( talk) 21:20, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
So, are we all happy now? 143.165.8.50 ( talk) 19:52, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
