As per all the sources Nayaks were Telugu people. They are not Tamils.

Hi, As per my understanding based on RS, his name is Tirumala Nayaka or Tirumala Nayak. The article also seemed to created as Tirumala Nayak initially and had been eventually moved to Tirumalai Nayak without any proper explanation or discussion. @ Ms Sarah Welch: , @ Utcursch: -Can you add your suggestions on this?

Tirumala Nayaka – As per the inscriptions his name is Tirumala Nayaka and most common spelling as per these sources:

[7]. Few articles also stated it as Tirumala Nayak as in
[8]. Thirumalai Nayak is localised name which can be added as alternate spelling.
