The history is slightly misleading when talking about the smooth cooktop. Corning started marketed a cooktop ("The Counter That Cooks") with a flat Pyroceram surface in 1968. Corning later sold the product line to Amana. I am guessing Thermador introduced *their* flat cooktop, using Corning provided materials, in 1970. Wws ( talk) 23:00, 27 October 2014 (UTC) reply
