This name is referred to on Wikipedia's List of Japanese Army Officers (WW2), and I have googled references to him as keeping a diary while he was aide-de-camp to crown prince Hirohito. But I haven't found a citable reference that states that there is a single person of this name with a date of birth and death, and some elements of his career. There is a four part "diaries of" published in 2000 by Sumio Hatano. 波多野澄雄 Here is the first one at Amazon.jp: http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/4760117520 His kanji is 奈良 武次. Neier 12:18, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
