Shinjuku Gyoen and Shinjuku Central Park (SCP) are two different green areas on different sides of Shinjuku station. All of the information on the SCP mistakenly related to Gyoen, not SCP. Whoever wrote this information was wrong. Shinjuku Gyoen is NEVER referred to as Shinjuku Central Park. I deleted the information on SCP that related to Gyoen and added some of that to the Gyoen page. At the same time, I wrote a minimal intro to SCP. I also added on the SCP page that SCP is NOT Gyoen.
To Exploding Boy. You added a brief paragraph about ohanami in Gyoen and parties being organised by gay bars. I don't think this is relevant to the Gyoen page at all. Perhaps it belongs in the 2-chome section or maybe on gay life in Tokyo. But not in the Gyoen page. There are hundreds, possibly thousands, of groups who organise parties in Gyoen during ohanami. Parties organised by gay bars are simply a small part of that. DDD DDD 02:22, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
It may not be known to the average heterosexual, but so what? A perfectly sound reason for including this as part of the article. Sorry, but I think you've removed the information without sufficient discussion, so I'm restoring it. I fail to see the problem with including this interesting and relevant piece of information in the article. The info could be included in the Homosexuality in Japan article, maybe. But it doesn't belong in the Ni-chome article for the reason explained above. Exploding Boy 06:10, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
Once again, I disagree. That many thousands of heterosexual people have hanami parties in the park is relevant to this article, but so is the fact that some gay people do, particularly given the park's popularity among Tokyo gay men. Frankly, I would have no objection to having information in the Shinuku Station article about cottaging by gay men either. Exploding Boy 15:49, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, well. You seem to be calling me unreasonable because I disagree with your views. I've read and re-read the single sentence that you're complaining about, and can still can see no reason not to include it here. You seem to think, based on what you've written here, that any mention of gay people or a gay topic must be confined to articles that specifically deal with them. That's not at all the case. I could understand your objection if I'd devoted paragraphs and paragraphs to gay men doing hanami in the park, but we are talking about one single sentence that mentions that SG, being close to Ni-chome, is popular among gay men as a hanami spot. What on earth is the big deal? Exploding Boy 23:13, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
It's interesting that "respectively" was used correctly in the body of the article, but completely misused by the user complaining about the gay reference. I assume s/he meant "respectfully". Let's learn to use our native vocabulary correctly before we complain about content. 124.102.88.195 ( talk) 01:30, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

@ Gryffindor: has moved this page from "Shinjuku Gyoen" to "Shinjuku Gyō-en". However, Shinjuku (新宿, じんじゅく) Gyoen (御苑, ぎょえん) is not Gyō-en (ぎょうえん or ぎょーえん) in Japanese. There is no Length (phonetics) between "Gyo" (ぎょ) and "en" (えん). Is there any reference to spell as "Gyō-en"? -- MawaruNeko ( talk) 15:54, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
