The whole thing need to be NPOV'd, badly. A lot of it is copy pasted in the tounge and cheek style of Shacknews, which is great, but not for wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.254.82.201 ( talk) 02:41, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Anyone care to help cleanup this section? I'm of the opinion we could probably completely remove it. It's obvious the site posts news, and I think it just really clutters up the page and doesn't really do anything besides list what is posted to the site, and the types of posts that were previously used. Maybe we could clean it up to be less list like and maybe more of a history type read like I cleaned the Comment System History section to be? -- Mancide ( talk) 19:25, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Shacknews is no longer a driving force in the gaming community. The site is essentially a chat forum, and most of that doesn't pertain to games at all. I recommend deletion from Wikipedia. Whose with me?
Guys I wonder if we should include stuff that applies to all message boards, stuff like IAWTP and TL;DR, Comedy Gold, etc aren't specific to the shack.. unlike shacktags, shacker, etc.
HWM might be appropraite, Hot Wet Maarten.
But since I'm not one to delete content I'll just put it in talk and hope that someone notices :) Celerityfm 03:26, 13 Apr 2004 (UTC)
I think we should probably make it more non-POV by adding some information about squabble, etc, and some info about the controversial modding policies, etc. I don't know enough about them to bang out something worthwhile. We should probably aim to turn it into something more than just a "OMG, teh shack is teh best!1!1!" page. Maybe with a seperate section on shackbattles, and about the steam beta, and other shack specials. -- Gregb 20:57, 14 Apr 2004 (UTC)
I took us off of the VFD page. I think its time to move on and become a permanent part of the Wikipedia! Congratulations Shacknews wikipedia editing crew!
I'm archiving the discussion to delete the page here for posterity. What follows is the archive of the debate:

Removed "The moderation staff is also openly partial to posting regulars, often moderating non-regulars more harshly. Game development company employees are also given partiality, including moderator status, in order to facilitate "scooping" other news sites in relation to video game news.".
This is a personal point of view. It is an opinion, not a fact. See Weasel words and NPOV. sikander 19:48, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Please be aware than further addition of your personal point of view in the 'Comments' section will result in an IP Block. Your additions has been removed six times now by two different people. Sadly all requests for discussion have been ignored. Please see Weasel words and NPOV. In any case, any futher addition of the same sentence that you've been repeatedly adding to the article will result in an IP block. sikander 19:53, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
I made a few small changes to make sentences a bit less muddled and improve a few small grammatical errors, as well as making one or two sentences more in line with the NPOV guidelines of Wikipedia. Nothing major. BTW, this is ColoradoCNC, I'm just too lazy to make a wiki account.
Just added the confirmation on Remo there, see [1], so those in the GLBT community. Ilrosewood 05:55, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
It is in poor taste to link to a leaked archive of a private messageboard, not to mention the possible copyright ramifications that can arise from doing so. Since Wikiepedia explicitly states that "Content that violates any copyright will be deleted", that portion should be removed (especially since it was most certainly not intended to be public, and presumably illegaly obtained). Trypsin24 00:48, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
With the release of laryn.x the following scripts are broken and thus should not be used.

I'm afraid that comments like "Steve Gibson - Shacknews founder and majority owner Steve Gibson has somehow managed to keep this whole thing operational and independent for over a decade. Originally the sole voice of the Shack, Steve now sits at the top of the vast Shack empire, managing its business affairs and thumbing through large rolls of bills while stopping in on the front page on a daily basis." read like adverts for the site and not as something independent. I don't know enough about ShackNews (ShugaShack forever, baby!) to alter the descriptions, but something clearly objective would be preferred. ArekExcelsior ( talk) 19:39, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Steve Gibson and Maarten Goldstein are listed on the Shacknews Team page as Founders, not Creators. I have updated the article to reflect this. [1] Xin Jing ( talk) 20:49, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Steve doesn't own the website anymore, so quit spamming Wikipedia for advertising a corporate site (Gamefly owns the domain now). Hence, I removed the funky, jazz, and whatever other troll forum pics because...well, Wikipedia isn't an advertising tool. This article needs vast cleanup(especially it's POV and non-cited information) and quite frankly, if the Shack fanbase was so concerned about maintaining all their fanboy integrity in keeping this article the same for the last four years, they'd at least admit they're feeding into turning Wikipedia into a corporate advertisement. Seriously. I'd recommend the article for deletion for spam alone, but the shack fanboy population aren't dying out fast enough. — Preceding unsigned comment added by XTStarmaster ( talk • contribs) 09:37, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
What it says. The article is mostly un-sourced, hasn't changed much in the last four years (beyond being a corporate advertisement), and the citation tags are from April, 2010. This is plenty of time for cleanup...and apparently even the most fervent Shack members can't even be bothered to maintain the Wiki. It's not a reliable article on Wikipedia and since the lack of maintenance in keeping the citation standards has obviously not been done, I recommend this article be deleted.
Vote? Discuss? All that typical democratic crap? — Preceding unsigned comment added by XTStarmaster ( talk • contribs) 09:43, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
