I contest the factuality of this article. Roxana was the daughter of Darius, unless there was another Roxana in present-day Uzbekistan. I want this clarified please! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darkmagi2017 ( talk • contribs) 21:06, 31 August 2006

I don't really understand why Persian is included either. I can't find any reliable sources that state she was Persian. Persians were just one of many Iranic groups in the region. Even under the Achaemenid empire each region was given its own name and identity e.g. Bactria, Sogdia, Arya. Persianization of that region mostly occurred post-Islam. It just seems like laziness to leave it there and might cause confusion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.98.4.100 ( talk) 12:38, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
Well, Bactria, as well as Sogdia, were Persian Satrapies. So it is, in fact, quite feasible, if not likely, as some would argue, that Roxana's father, Oxyartes, was a Persian nobleman, by descent, living in Bactria (Same argument goes for Spitamenes).

Why was my edit “a Bactrian(not Sogdian) [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]“ reverted ?
Roxana and her father Oxyrates were described as Bactrian in every primary source we have, the assumption that she is Sogdian comes from the fact that he wedding of her and Alexander took place in Sogdia and that they have met in Sogdia. I have added several sources that state Oxyartes and Roxana to be Bactrian and that they were taking refuge in Sogdia at that time which was also the reason for them(Alexander and Roxana) encountering for the first time in Sogdia. I have added enough sources, primary and secondary, regarding this, how is not an improvement then but gets reverted, the assumption of her being Sogdian or her father being Sogdian is wrong and not proven by any primary source.
So I should always start with a talk before editing the article ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xerxes931 ( talk • contribs) 17:40, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
@HistoryofIran I’ve read the rules now I don’t really see what exactly I’ve done wrong. What would your suggestion for the editing would be since you acknowledge her being likely Bactrian but are not happy with my edit? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xerxes931 ( talk • contribs) 22:20, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

Hello, I have discovered a most distressing issue with a link on this page : when one tries to click the link "arthermitage.org" (situated in the bottom left corner when one clicks the picture of the painting by Pietro Rotari), one is redirected to a very weird page at " https://www.lilyslittlelearners.com/". I do not know how to fix this, so I rather warn somebody who does know. Brennusgd ( talk) 22:52, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
