There has been a fair amount of edits/reverts to the article's infobox recently. I took a look at it, in my opinion the length (as of this edit) is too long and the content goes into unnecessary detail. Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Infoboxes says that:

Original: On August 11, 2014, Williams committed suicide by hanging at his home in Paradise Cay, California.[8] Edited: On August 11, 2014, Williams took his own life by hanging at his home in Paradise Cay, California. [8] Suicide isn't a crime. Saying "committed" gives the connotation that it is but it hasn't been a crime for almost a century. As such a big figure in the public health community we need to have healthy talks about suicide and mental illness and by socially decriminalizing it we are changing the stigma surrounding it, hopefully taking the issue out of the closet. Hi. While some of my edits in the tributes section were reverted because they were unnecessary, I'm opening a discussion on the talk page. I have some concerns about some wordings that may need to be simplified in that section. For example, "The death of Robin Williams was instant global news" can be shortened to "Williams' death was instant global news". Also, I think "many" can be an unnecessary weasel word per WP:WEASEL. Any further ideas or suggestions on what to do to help improve this section? Thanks, Lord Sjones23 ( talk - contributions) 06:23, 1 July 2017 (UTC)

How come this article makes no mention of accusations of Robin Williams stealing jokes, but Carlos Mencia's article has a whole section on it. This seems rather unfair.
References
I'm thinking about taking this article to GA or FA status, using Phil Hartman and Katharine Hepburn, both FAs, as possible models. Eventually, if the Williams article does get promoted to Featured status, it can be featured as a TFA on either July 21 (the 68th anniversary of his birth) or August 11 (the 5th anniversary of his death). However, I think this article may need to have a look at some issues such as date formats and so forth. Also, one of my concerns on the article is that the biography and career sections might look a bit disjointed in different places; those may have to be organized chronologically by years.
All are welcome to assist in this process. If there are any additional thoughts or suggestions on what can be done to improve it, please post here. Thanks, Lord Sjones23 ( talk - contributions) 05:02, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

At this revision Surtsicna changed the infobox pic to that shown on the left, below. The previous image (in the middle) was here since 2017-03-01; that was only a different angle and better smile than this one, placed on 2014-02-12 (on the right). I may have missed other short-lived changes in between.

@ Rms125a@hotmail.com: The address seems like too much detail, especially for the infobox, but I also don't see how it's encyclopedic, even in the body of the article. It doesn't seem to be routinely mentioned in on-topic sources (i.e. outside the real-estate records, background check sites, etc.). It's not in the Sky News article to which it's cited in the body (which has apparently moved), though a careful look at the pic suggests that the address is wrong, too. The discrepancy could be cleared up, but I don't think the residents need us to help invade their privacy any further, for no encyclopedic reason. I was watching Ludwig on Twitch and they were browsing wikipedia. One of the articles they came across was Robin Williams and they couldn't find the film 'Flubber' anywhere on the page. 'Flubber' was the first film I ever watched which had Robin Williams in it, and I have admired his acting and comedy ever since. So I believe it is an influential film which should be included on his page. I tried to add it, but my edit was quickly removed due to the wording. I can try to rephrase so it gets on there, but I wasn't sure if there was another reason why it was not included. Are there any suggestions on the inclusion of 'Flubber' in this article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cnoized ( talk • contribs) 03:14, 14 August 2020 (UTC)

There is too much stuff in the article about his occupations. It needs cleaning up, He is not much of a "director", "writer", voice artist" or a "producer" in jos career. His most notable occupation should be as "Actor and stand-up comedian".

Apparently Disney gave Robin Williams a Picasso painting to apologize for using his Aladdin voiceover in merchandising. Seems noteworthy enough to include in article. https://news.artnet.com/art-world/comedy-legend-robin-williams-battled-disney-depression-and-picasso-76633 CrocodilesAreForWimps ( talk) 22:06, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
BLP Others clearly does not apply to the recent removal about Williams' Juilliard roommate, who is also dead. This content should be reinstated unless and until an applicable policy/guideline can be found to justify removal. Stevie is the man! Talk • Work 20:00, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

OK, I will be unwatching this article for now on. It's possible I will return for minor cleanups but that is it. Not worth the blood pressure spike I just got from this episode. I resent the tendentious stonewalling I've been given by Mlpearc in this matter. I will remember this. Stevie is the man! Talk • Work 20:47, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Was his manifestly manic depressive/bipolar personality ever documented? If not, why not? If so, why is it not mentioned here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.168.17.209 ( talk) 07:53, 25 August 2018 (UTC)
How come this article makes no mention of accusations of Robin Williams stealing jokes, but Carlos Mencia's article has a whole section on it. This seems rather unfair.

I prefer the middle one. —[ AlanM1( talk)]— 08:23, 1 December 2018 (UTC)

Done. Not sure if it qualifies for OS, since it's public info, but I removed it from the article. —[ AlanM1( talk)]— 12:10, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Overall, this article is very thorough and detailed. Thanks to all who've contributed. I was wondering, however, if we could get a Discography section added? I came here looking for a link to A Night at the Met and had to end up finding it under "Televised Live Performances". It could save other users time looking up information about this and his other discs. Thanks! FiggazWithAttitude ( talk) 17:42, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

I have removed this speculative and overquoted text, written the day after Williams’s death and typical of the kind of rampant speculation in the press before his Lewy body autopsy results. SandyGeorgia ( Talk) 02:13, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
