Charles McGruder III moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Charles McGruder III. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and please look at the notability criteria WP:NPROF. There is nothing in the current draft, e.g. awards & citations that qualifies. You may be able to add, which is why I have moved it to a draft so you can. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Ldm1954 ( talk) 23:32, 23 March 2024 (UTC) reply

Louisville Infobox

Hello, I just wanted to ping you to state that I restored the prior infobox image layout because (i) the images were being pushed out of sequence, and (ii) I don't see why two images of the same thing (the skyline/downtown) are really warranted. That being said if you feel strongly that the image should be included I would not protest further. Just wanted to let you know politely and personally why I restored it! Have a good day. 636Buster ( talk) 17:23, 2 April 2024 (UTC) reply

That's fine. The format worked in my browser when I did it and I even checked it out in the Wikipedia app. But that said, I see your point. I was thinking that the daytime skyline in combo with the bridge was different enough to add. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 17:47, 2 April 2024 (UTC) reply

Bonked

I'm quite bonked right now so my editing is going to be reduced for a while. Burnout is real, folks. Always be sure to catch a breath when you need one. I will continue watchlist duty and some other minor work until I feel "recovered". Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 08:07, 5 April 2024 (UTC) reply

WikiProject Louisville
WikiProject Louisville Newsletter (April 2024)
Believe it or not, WikiProject Louisville is still in operation after nearly 18 years, and we're in the Top 40 most active projects.

Recent Project Happenings

  • Since fall of last year, the project has undergone a major revamp. All pages of the project have been redesigned and largely rewritten. Of special note to members is that we're now listed participants. It's a slightly different mode of operation that WikiProjects have been gradually moving toward – instead of being like a club, we're an action center! Check out our Participation & outreach page for more details.
  • We have over 6,800 articles included in the project and over 21,000 pages (including talk pages) overall.

Derby 150 Edit-a-thon, Anyone?

Your input is welcomed on having an edit-a-thon to commemorate the 150th Kentucky Derby. It would take place during the Kentucky Derby Festival.

Did You Know

  • WikiProject Louisville now has its own barnstar you may hand out to any editor doing significant work in Louisville area-related articles?
  • We now have a way to look up tagged issues in our articles over a decade old?
  • We now have even more ways to patrol changes to pages within our project?

So tell me...the other editor is edit warring over whether Liston's nickname is "The Big Bear" instead of "the Big Bear"... Previously I had misunderstood as to what the simmering ongoing issue was, I thought someone was thinking his nickname wasn't Big Bear and someone else was saying oh yes it was Big Bear.
Anyway, just wanted to mention that in a 1968 Sports Illustrated article he was referred to as "The Big Bear" with a capital T...

"Don't be afraid," Geraldine used to counsel. "He don't bite." We poor, petty men were not going to try to find out. Instead, we called him The Big Bear, because maybe he did bite, and we described his look as "baleful," a word which means "foreboding evil."

PS - Yes I did read your talkpage instructions and I do know this is about the Sonny Liston article but wanted to get your take on it here first if that's ok. Shearonink ( talk) 17:58, 11 April 2024 (UTC) reply
As you know, we have guidelines for how we present content. Just because a source capitalizes "The" doesn't mean we are supposed to do that. I was going by WP:THE. If I have misunderstood the guideline, please inform. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 18:03, 11 April 2024 (UTC) reply
