Does anyone have information on Miyavi's unique guitar style? If so, then please tell me or put it in yourself. I think it deserves a place on this article. -- ArmesPryein —Preceding undated comment was added at 01:38, 6 December 2008 (UTC).

Just wanted to mention that "Koi Kei X" might better be removed. I never heard of it and didn't find any other information about it. Other people in different forums don't know this too... We are into this kind of music for a long time so I guess someone of us would have stumbled upon this term if it would really be used ^^°
Anyways, maybe someone can proof that it's an existing term, I'm always willing to learn ;)
Is there any actual confirmation that Miyavi is half-Korean? From what I'd heard, it's only been speculation, and I haven't found any confirmation from Miyavi himself or anyone representing Miyavi that he truly is. It seemed to be speculation based entirely on his appearance, too... VZG 22:17, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
- It is only speculation. I'm going to edit that out for now. Any further addition of it should be discussed here. Silvanos 14:37, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
Why would be surprising news if he is half Korean. It wouldn't be surprising fact if more than half Japanese entertainers are half korean or have Korean blood. In the past so many Koreans migrated to Japan. Like Jews in American Entertainment Industry thier are considerable numbers of Koreans or Half Korean stars using alias Japanese names in Japan Industry. I would not be surprised if he is Half Korean. I mean so what. He rocks only thing I care about. Leave out the bias opinion please. Welcome to real Japan. Historically Japan was founded by Koreans even Japanese Emperor himself announced his Emperor family traces to Korea.
You can tell he is of Korean descent from the appearance of his face as well as his occupation. It is that of a typical Zainichi Korean. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 240D:1A:8AF:4D00:E833:C86E:67CC:C9BB ( talk) 06:25, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
He is actually ethnically half korean. There was a printed article about it. It was posted on soompi forums in an article from dec 2005 issue of a37: http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=112&st=760 and actually translated http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=112&st=820 here. "Here he shares his personal history. Starting with a surprising word: 3rd generation zainichi (Korean-Japanese)...
Interviewer: You were born in Hyogo (兵庫)?
Miyavi: Today I want to talk about my past before I was born.
I: Then about your parents?
M: Yes, this is the first time I am mentioning, I am 3rd generation zainichi (Korean-Japanese). Looking at the bloodline, I am mixed. My father's side, grandfather and grandmother are from Jejo island, which is famous for tourist site. They were living their until they came to Japan.
I: Did you know this truth when you were little?
M: No, at first the questions brought up, but I forgot. But you know when relatives get married. My father had 8 siblings. And he is the first son, so he always had to attend wedding ceremonies. I remember when I went with him to the wedding, at the front door the last names were written in big letters. When I saw it, one side was written "Lee"(李家) and the other side had "Kim"(金家). So even though I was little, (laughs) I knew those last names weren't much seen in Japan. And when I was little, I used to eat jijime(Korean food? I don't know) and see jogori (Korean traditional dress). Although I didn't know much when I was little, I knew I was alittle different.
I: So even though you were born and raised in Japan, you felt your surrounding wasn't quite Japan you are saying?
M: Yes, I felt it. I recently found out that my family's last name is Lee (李). There is Bruce Lee (different chinese/kanji character), so I thought it was okay to have Lee as last name (laughs). My grandfather and grandmother lived in Jurubashi(鶴橋). I was born in Nisikujo (西九条)."
It goes on further to say that he also mentioned in a 2004 issue of the Korean magazine GMV:
"I am mixed, but I don't think that's important. What's the point of thinking about it? When I am writing music, I think about what's important to me. I know history/background is important, but there are more important things. I want to show/express good sides from both Japan and Korea."

Miyavi: "I'm not sure which side I'm on, but I'm half Korean (laugh). However, I don't think that's important. What good is it to pay too much attention to that? When I write music I think about what is important. Although personal history is important, I take on what I need and forget what should be forgotten. I want to keep expressing Japan's good points and Korea's good points."
Toshiya from Dir en Grey is not a guitarist, he's a bassist. And the magazines mentioned are not magazines that have models, they are music magazines that feature interviews and live reports from bands and artists, such is the case with Miyavi. He has however modelled in the past for the Gothic & Lolita Bible for different designers. And the convention he was supposed to appear at was Pacific Media Expo in 2004. It is not an anime convention, it is a convention focused on Asian pop culture in general. Dix Princesse 14:26, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Yoshiki has stated on his blog (I cannot make it a link because it is blocked from doing so, but you can look it up yourself) that Miyavi is going to be one of nine bands appearing at the Wiltern Theatre on May 25 and 26. The problem is I cannot use Yoshiki's blog as a source, since Myspace is blocked. If I added a different source that quoted what he said, it could be considered not a good source. Any suggestions on what to do? Ismene 23:01, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
I've read in various places that Miyavi's true, given name at birth is Ishihara Takamasa (last name Ishihara, first name Takamasa). The kanji for "miyavi" is also the kanji for "masa", so it seems plausible. I'd like to include this in the article, but I'm not sure about the sources...it's mostly been (widespread) fan speculation--forums and such. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Namiie ( talk • contribs) 20:19, 29 April 2007 (UTC).
It was just announced at the J-rock Revolution concert in LA (May 25) by Yoshiki that Miyavi is indeed the fourth member of the band (which also includes Gackt, Sugizo and Yoshiki himself), so I added that to the article. Anime Expo 2007 has announced that the band will play on June 29: [ [5]]. So far that's the only reputable source, but Miyavi will probably make an announcement on his official site soon. If anyone knows of any other legit sources to confirm Miyavi's placement, please add. I left the speculation bit in there, too (mention of his December 2006 comment). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Namiie ( talk • contribs)
I just rehauled the Career section of the article, and split it into the relevant eras of Miyavi's career for better organization. Hope that fits with Wikipedia's style guide...I've seen it done on other artists' pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Namiie ( talk • contribs)

Okay, regarding Miyavi's birthplace, he *was* born on Nishikujo as he mentions in the Rock and Read article, however, Nishikujo is a STREET in Konohana-ku in Osaka City. It's not a city and it's not a prefecture or even a district, so please do not mark his birthplace as "Nishikujo, Japan" because it geographically makes no sense. If you look at Konohana-ku's English website you'll notice that Nishikujo is listed in part of the addresses for many of the locations within the ward such as one of the fire departments. I painstakingly took the kanji from the article and ran it through Google to see where the name came up and it only comes up in pages for Konohana-ku in Osaka City and in reference to the train station that lets out at Nishikujo. For those that have read the Tale of Genji, the "jo" counter should be familiar as it's part of Lady Rokujo's "name" or rather her "nickname" because all of the characters receive their name based on poems associated with them or where they live. In Rokujo's case it's based on the fact that her home was on the 6th street. With landmarks, Nijo Castle also gets its name similarly because it's on the 2nd street.
I added a different picture of Miyavi that better showed his face, as the original picture did not show his face that well and made his features hard to recognise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Starfuming ( talk • contribs) 16:43, August 30, 2007 (UTC)

Miyavi has said himself that gives no comment on the matter until April 5th. This can be read on his official blog. All marriage rumours should be removed until he confirms them himself.

Maybe he has Korean roots, but if he doesn't have the Korean passport, he is not Zainichi Korean, he is just an ethnic Korean or Japanese citizen of Korean descent. In this case, you should replace Zainichi Koreans category with Japanese people of Korean descent category.-- Repli cant ( talk) 11:27, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
As Miyavi wrote in his blog on his website MYV382TOKYO.com, her name is Lovelie, not AIRI. He wrote,
愛理 (Lovelie/らゔり)
と命名しました。
Which says "So we named her 愛理 (Lovelie/RAVURI)".
It's true that 愛理 is normally pronounced AIRI, however Miyavi wrote the pronunciation after, "Lovelie/らゔり". So らゔり (Ravuri) is her name.-- TakenouchiNex ( talk) 07:24, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Does anyone else think that we should add the dates for the tour and the two dvds that have been officially confirmed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by MYVizm382 ( talk • contribs) 00:14, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
The following was removed from the article as clearly inappropriately written material for an encyclopedia, (note:the content was later removed from this page due to copyright concerns - it was a cut and paste of an entire page from a website) but it does claim the information was published in what appear reliable sources. I will check to see if anything is
verifiable and can be returned. --

Miyavi has said himself that gives no comment on the matter until April 5th. This can be read on his official blog. All marriage rumours should be removed until he confirms them himself.
This is a place for facts. Tabloid rubbish has no place on Wikipedia.

Tabloids say a lot of things. That doesn't make them a fact. Can't we at least leave the part in the personal section that states that Miyavi makes no comment at this time?
Doesn't what the artist says himself pull more weight than an online tabloid? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.171.114.192 ( talk) 19:11, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Who cares if it's not in the source anymore?? It was released under Creative Commons, and that is something that no one, not even the author, can revert. If it was released under CC, it stays that way. Period. Eugeniu B +1 18:47, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
