Merger

I think we should split up this list and merge the pre-1949 ROC parties into Chinese political parties and other Taiwanese parties into List of political parties in Taiwan.-- Jerry 21:35, 17 September 2007 (UTC) reply

romanization of DPP

It currently says DPP is pronounced "Míndìndǎng" for 民進黨. I'm pretty sure that first "d" is incorrect, that it should be a "j" or something like that. Can someone with better Chinese skills help out? Readin ( talk) 06:47, 20 August 2009 (UTC) reply

Split

I want to add content about Taiwanese political parties under Japanese rule and political parties in the ROC between 1912 and 1949, so I propose to split the article into "List of political parties in Taiwan" and "List of political parties in the Republic of China(1912-49)".-- Coco977 ( talk) 18:31, 14 August 2016 (UTC) reply

When readers search for "List of political parties in Taiwan", they should be able to find information about Taiwanese political parties under Japanese rule. If we put it under Taiwan under Japanese rule, readers couldn't.-- Coco977 ( talk) 16:40, 15 August 2016 (UTC) reply
This article isn't about Taiwan. It is about the RoC. If you want to create a new article about elections in Taiwan across history, feel free to do so. RGloucester 16:58, 15 August 2016 (UTC) reply
If nobody objects, I'll change List of political parties in Taiwan into User:Coco977/sandbox and List of political parties in the Republic of China into User:Coco977/sandbox1.-- Coco977 ( talk) 17:07, 15 August 2016 (UTC) reply
  • Oppose the split as it is proposed. The Japanese-period entities are from an entirely different system. I would also hesitate to include pre-1949 detail as well on the same basis, although the history section is useful. I feel the post-martial law focus of this article provides a coherent topic. I can see the scope for separate articles on the other topics however, and note there is a very small amount of information on 1912-1949 Chinese parties at Chinese political parties. The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Moved. There is a consensus that the proposed title is a better fit, for consistency with the article on the country itself. Furthermore, there is consensus that the sections pertaining to pre-1949 can be split out to either a separate new article, or merged into Republic of China (1912–49). I'll leave that to interested parties to carry out, once the move is done.  —  Amakuru ( talk) 10:29, 15 June 2017 (UTC) reply

List of political parties in the Republic of ChinaList of political parties in Taiwan – Is it better to rename/move this page to "Taiwan"? The section needs to include political parties when it was under Japanese rule. Supreme Dragon ( talk) 18:46, 24 May 2017 (UTC) reply
