When I saw the "citation needed" for Hardwick's attending Texas Tech University, I felt obligated to confirm the fact. Our senior year, 1981, John and I were roommates along with Marcus Gabor at the South Plains Apartments in Lubbock, Texas. John (I don't remember anyone ever calling him Johnny) had the quickest wit and oddest sense of humor I ever remember. I remember when he was part of an "improv" group that performed just off campus. True improv, which meant they had no idea what they were going to do at the beginning, and sometimes it bombed, but more often it was absolutely hilarious. We haven't spoken since then, but I followed his career once I discovered "King of the Hill," and was disappointed to see it cancelled. I have a 21-year-old who thinks it is the best show on TV. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Poordick ( talk • contribs) 19:43, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
I can also verify that John was at Tech but checked my yearbooks (2 of them) and did not find him in them. He had a column in the University Daily one year. He also graduated from JJ Pearce High School in 1977. The Tech alumni magazine, the Texas Techsan had an article about him a few years back. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Auldacquaintance ( talk • contribs) 02:26, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
The article says he was born in 1958, but IMDB says 1963. Who is correct? Austin-Statesmen also uses 1958 in their article on his death (64 at time of death): [1]. If you have any more evidence supporting one or the other birth year, please do drop it. Moline1 ( talk) 18:25, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
The September date of birth seems to have become widely accepted amongst most sources online (there is also a November DOB). However, his birth certificate and residency records on Ancestry all state that John Michael Hardwick was born on December 31, 1958 in Harris County, Texas. Do any "reliable" sources have this piece of information correct? Jkaharper ( talk) 14:51, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
Shouldn’t it say in the infobox that his body was only found on August 8th, since we don’t actually know when he died. MontztheMan ( talk) 13:23, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
