"After the riot, Mitford proceeded on to a rally at a church led by Martin Luther King, Jr.. This too was attacked by the Ku Klux Klan and Mitford spent the night barricaded inside the church with the group until the violence was ended by the National Guard."
The section of the article about civil rights currently says this, but I think it should be re-worded. Which group is the group that was barricaded inside the church? The KKK or the group that Martin Luther King Jr. was speaking to? Someone please make the necessary adjustments. I would, but I do not know which group is the one that Mitford spent the night with in a church. Sittingonfence 02:16, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
This article states "As a child her sister Unity gave her the nickname of "Boud"." This would appear to be incorrect. Unity herself was known as "Boud". Jessica's nickname was "Decca". See "Hons and Rebels" by Jessica Mitford, Phoenix edition 2003 p 16: "Unity - Bobo to the rest of the family, but Boud to me -" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mae07 ( talk • contribs) 12:48, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
The fascist Unity Mitford was called Boud - not Jessica. Please correct! 68.56.241.58 (talk).
The Mitfords used a complex system of nicknames. Each daughter had a "general nickname" used by all the family - Jessica was Decca, Unity was Bobo, Deborah was Debo, etc. But some of the sisters also had nicknames they called each other, and which no-one else used. Jessica and Unity called each other Boud, while Jessica and Nancy called each other Susan. Intelligent Mr Toad (talk) 09:33, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
I've read that he father Lord Redesdale cut her out of his will when she named her daughter "Lenin". Is theree any truth to this? -- JackofOz ( talk) 02:01, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
I've never heard this, but it is possible. She and Bob Truehaft later named their son Nicholas after Lenin's original pseudonym "Nikolai Lenin." I don't recall what she and Romilly called their first daughter, who died in infancy. Intelligent Mr Toad ( talk) 19:49, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
The article links to the wrong Willie McGee. 12.206.222.20 ( talk) 12:10, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Why is Jessica Mitford referred to in terms of her husband and her 'ability' as a mother. This is a woman who publically denounced the principles of her family of origin and did not stop by questioning their beliefs but went on to questioning her own. Is part of being a parent not properly considering the world your children are brought into ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.124.144.37 ( talk) 17:23, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
The notes to Peter Levi's Penguin edition of Samuel Johnson's Journey to the Western Islands of Scotland say Unity Mitford's father Lord Redesdale bought it before the war in his daughter Jessica's name: he hoped to live out the war there. Jessica married a Californian: they sold the island, but it is still private property. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dugong.is.good.tucker ( talk • contribs) 15:55, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
I suggest these are moved to a unique wikiquote page and merely linked to from this page. Teatreez ( talk) 03:01, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
