Is there a known reason why sitting is the only one of the basic four that is not used in any event ? Was it ever used? 213.149.62.70 ( talk) 15:02, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
The article currently says:
I assume that "Union of National Shooting" is supposed to be the same organization as "L’Unione Internationale" mentioned in the previous sentence, but it's not clear, as "Union of National Shooting" would be an odd abbreviation for "International Union of National Shooting Federations and Associations". The way it reads now, it sounds like Mérillon encouraged a different shooting organization to go out of business during World War I. -- Metropolitan90 (talk) 07:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
I have added the Update template to the Disciplines and Olympic events section, since this is badly out of date. I am also of a mind however that the entire section should probably just be deleted since it is only duplicating (badly) the separate article ISSF shooting events, which includes all ISSF-recognised disciplines, including non-Olympic disciplines. Alternatively, replace it with links to ISSF shooting events and Discontinued ISSF shooting events and possibly just include a single paragraph explaining that of the recognised events, 15 are Olympic (split evenly between Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun) and that World Cups only include Olympic events whilst World Championships include a full programme. This seems more future-proof and requires less duplication of effort across articles when changes occur. Hemmers ( talk) 15:35, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
