I don't want throw OR into the article, but what bothers me more than Han's hero factor is the sheer stupidity on Han's part and incompetence on Greedo's part in the revised Han Shot Second scenario. Han is sitting like four feet away from a bounty hunter that has a pistol trained on him and is about to shoot him; in waiting to be fired on, he should have no expectation of surviving even if he does get a shot off himself. And then Greedo, hardened bounty hunter, completely misses a steady shot at a man sitting still right across a table. It doesn't make Han look like a skilled but principled gunslinger. It makes it look like the screenwriter is giving him a piggyback ride. Okay, rant over, but it feels like an important point a relevant source has also addressed it. Should one not point out that the phrase "Han shot first" doesn't make sense whether or not Greedo fired or not?
Han shot solo, and Greedo died. Should this inaccuracy not be mentioned? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nurseline247 ( talk • contribs) 21:21, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
Someone reverted my edit stating that there was an added scene where it explicitly shows Greedo shooting first, then laser shots from both Greedo and Han Solo, then an explosion happening seemly killing Greedo. In the original version, Greedo suddenly explodes with no visible shots from either Han Solo or Greedo. So, if that addition in the Special Edition of Star Wars is not actually an added scene, what is it called then? An added shot? Additional footage? What should it be labeled in the article? Is it a necessity for this addition to be specifically called out? Matthew Cenance ( talk) 00:25, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
I've boldly added the entire contents of Han shot first to the Han Solo page. I feel "Han shot first" makes sense on that page because much of the discussion about it relates to Solo's personality, characterization and character development. Also, the Han Solo page is not very long, so this makes it more of meaty article. There is probably some trimming to be done of the added content.
I suggest we officially merge the pages at some point. I'll wait for input before doing so. Wafflewombat ( talk) 08:34, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
Solo shoots and kills Greedothere should be an {{efn}} footnote after the comma explaining the controversy and then linking to this page for more information. Whatever you think is relevant from this could probably fit under § Characterization and analysis (which is pretty empty at the moment). 〜 Askarion ✉ 18:25, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
