Coy?
The article does a lot of implying that Hutchins was lesbian. Personally, I find that more annoying than saying yes/ no/ we don't know, it's kinda coy to imply it so heavily but never even frame the question IMO.

Whittaker Chambers
"Conversely, in 1948, during the Alger Hiss espionage trial, she was accused by Whittaker Chambers—who had spied on the Communist Party—of threatening to kill him after he left the Party."
Chambers admittedly spied FOR the Communist Party, left it, feared (not without reason) to be killed as a traitor and later on (rarely) gave information about his activities as a Communist. I have never found anyone till now who pretends that Chambers deliberately spied ON the Party. Is this a simple error or a smear or do you have sources for it?

Rheinvolk: The sentence you quote doesn't claim that Chambers spied on the party. It claims that Hutchins said Chambers spied on the party. Or in light of your use of the word "you" in your last sentence, are you actually asking Hutchins? It's a valid question but she won't be able to answer it as she's been dead almost 50 years.
