One of the referenced external links on the article says Wagner worked for the Department of Transport - https://neglectedbooks.com/?p=5206.

I looked on Ancestry and found an Eliot Lawrence Wagner, born 19 December 1917 in New York City and who worked for the Department of Transport, although this is several years before his first book was published - https://www.ancestry.co.uk/discoveryui-content/view/194549699:2238?tid=&pid=&queryId=0dcb0408-6941-441b-a342-f69d0ab0671e&_phsrc=eEL1676&_phstart=successSource.

I found a family tree - https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/167228744/person/262385162757/facts - which claims that he died on 2 October 2009. It uses a photograph from the neglected books site.

Whilst not a reliable source, this is the FindAGrave page for the Eliot Wagner listed in the tree - https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/147359708/eliot-l.-wagner.

I can't find any records for an Eliot Lawrence Wagner dying on 2 October 2009.
