This article was created in response to the call at WT:LGBT#Honoring Harvey Milk.
It occurs to me that there may be a WP:BLP1E issue here, however I believe that there is sufficient notability for an article since condition three at BLP1E is not met. I believe it also meets the "separate article" test at WP:ONEEVENT, since "the event [was] highly significant, and the individual's role within it [was] a large one."
One way to characterize Viñales role, is as "an individual [who] plays a major role in a minor event." There is currently no article on the Snake Pit bar raid itself, and if this is because the raid is seen as a minor event, but still notable enough for an article, then probably this article should be renamed to "Snake Pit bar raid", and Diego Viñales should be a redirect to it.
Given the easy availability of numerous sources about the event, I currently lean toward this last solution. Mathglot ( talk) 07:17, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
I've seen both spellings Viñales and Vinales in sources. The fact that there are a lot more of the latter than the former in English reports doesn't sway me one way or the other about which one may be correct, so still looking for something definitive. For example, there is a Viñales Valley in Cuba, and English sources regularly spell it without the tilde, which in that case is wrong. With a person's name, you never know, so we need a good source. What happened to Diego after relesed from the hospital. Was he still charged with a crime or was he released? And what happened with him later in life? Allyn ( talk) 06:26, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
