I personally think there is not enough info on this man. I think that he either is very careful about what gets out about him or he has a bad publicist. :)
Beth
I agree with you Beth. But then again, it should be noted that he is not a very famous actor and thus may have not attracted a lot of public attention.
Trina
he was also on 8 or 9th season of x-files

In Britain his name is pronounced Ew-els not El-Wez
I just saw him tonight in the CBS TV film about Pope John Paul II. What a performance! He was the spitting image of the man. He was extraordinarily good. I didn't realise until the end who it was who had played him, just kept wondering "who the heck was that?". Full marks, Cary.

I think Nuttyskin is mistaking him with Cary Grant. I have read/watched a lot of Elwes' interviews (I'm a huge fan) and I have NEVER seen anything like that. On the other hand, it is said that Cary Grant was bisexual, so probably Nuttyskin just confused them both. VeroSa 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Now the page says - pronounced ELL-WAYS or "Yules" - which is extremely confusing. I checked the page specifically to see how his name is pronounced, and this does not explain it in any way. Which one is it? Is either acceptable? Does he pronounce it differently in Britain and in Hollywood? And in any case, explain it more clearly, at first I just thought WTF how are those the same word, thinking it was just explaining in two ways how to pronounce the same thing instead of explaining two completely different sounds. Then I wondered why the hell is it telling me two completely different ways to say someone's name...

Someone should add this.
In 1999, Elwes played a Dr. York in an episode of "The Outer Limits" called "Ripper." (cf. IMDB) 69.212.208.127 04:13, 4 September 2006 (UTC) Zuqaqipum
Someone needs to add info about his brother, Cassian Elwes who is a rather well known and influential person in the film industry. RoyBatty42 09:29, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
What is the evidence for him being a descendant of Guilford Dudley? Dudley and Jane Grey had no children. Is Elwes a descendant of a Dudley bastard? Or is he a descendant of the Dudley family, and thus related to Guilford Dudley but not descended from him? Or is the whole thing a fabrication? Simhedges 18:41, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Image:CaryElwes asKarol Wojtyla.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This picture is terrible. I'm not even sure if its him because of the glasses + beard. Try and get a clearer picture.

Why do we have a photograph of Cary Elwes with a goatee on the article? He is almost always seen without a goatee in films. -- The Anon, 92.20.200.45 ( talk) 16:28, 6 June 2010 (UTC), updated 16:30, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
I reverted this new registrant (don't know if he's a new user) who made a large number of edits without offering edit summaries or any discussion as to why he was removing another editor's citations. This is the only page to which he has made any edits. He then began the first volley of an edit war by not going to this talk page to discuss why he is blanking other editors' work and removing what appears to be pertinent information. I don't know if this is a hardcore fan, which is often the case in situations such as this. I am going to his page to try to initiate a discussion. If not, we may need admin intervention before this becomes a full-fledged edit war. -- Tenebrae ( talk) 01:16, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
I feel it's quite unecessary to clog the header with such detail that is touched upon in sections below it. The header is an introduction to the article and states the birthdate, nationality and general notable roles (in Elwes' case, The Princess Bride and Saw) and a few of his other roles. People revert me constantly telling me too much info isn't good, and when i shorten info, i Still get reverted, saying it contributes. It contradictory balance is getting annoying. The way i wrote it was nice and short, touching upon his general career, at the same time keeping it short and sweet. Rusted AutoParts ( talk) 19:16 29 September 2011 (UTC)
Watching Granite Flats on BYUtv, we see that Cary Elwes joins the cast next week, along with Christopher Lloyd. Charles Edwin Shipp ( talk) 02:13, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
Headline-1: Christopher Lloyd and Cary Elwes join Granite Flats cast
QUOTE: "We're thrilled to announce that veteran actors Christopher Lloyd and Cary Elwes in addition to Finola Hughes are joining season two of BYUtv's Granite Flats! Tune in for the brand new season beginning Sunday, April 6, at 9pm ET/7pm MT! (A special sneak peek of season two will also air on April 6 at 6pm ET/4pm MT, immediately following the Sunday afternoon session of LDS General Confrence. Two chances to watch in one day!) Christopher Lloyd is best known for his iconic roles in the TV series Taxi and films like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Addams Family and of course the Back to the Future film trilogy. Cary Elwes is well known for his performances in The Princess Bride, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Twister, Liar, Liar and New Year's Eve." -- Charles Edwin Shipp ( talk) 02:56, 28 April 2014 (UTC) -- PS:FYI for future editing.
Headline-2: Christopher Lloyd, Cary Elwes Join BYUtv Family Drama ‘Granite Flats’
QUOTE: "the family drama that airs on cabler BYUtv, is adding some high-profile thesps to its roster with Christopher Lloyd and Cary Elwes signing on for guest arcs. ... “Princess Bride” star and “Psych” alum Elwes will appear in four episodes as the head of CIA’s counter intelligence program." -- Charles Edwin Shipp ( talk) 02:56, 28 April 2014 (UTC) -- PS:FYI for future editing.
The article and infobox describe Elwes as a Democrat, but I’ve not been able to find any sources to state that he is a US citizen (although I have heard people suggest it). If anyone has one, they can add it (and add American to the citizenship section of his infobox). Otherwise, describing him as a Democrat when he isn’t a US citizen (and therefore not able to register as one) is an empty statement. He can support Democratic candidates, yes, but otherwise the statement is meaningless if he is not a US citizen. Cooltrainer Hugh ( talk) 22:34, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
The page says that he had a supporting role in "The Crush" (1993). Not true. He was the leading actor. Dansator ( talk) 00:07, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
