I've provided my source for the soundtrack that is heard within the film. If you want to post the soundtrack that was marked official, place it in a different header (source recommended) and refrain from deleting the original. I'm deleting the first paragraph of the traits section and heavily modifying the rest. Whoever wrote it must have been twelve years old or something. They clearly missed the subtext between Frost and Blade about the "all our strengths none of our weaknesses" bit. Clearly Frost does not see the thirst as a weakness. Regardless, I recommend the whole section be axed. Johnny Wishbone 05:58, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
This is really not needed in the article. The plot section already details that Frost is immensely powerful when he is possessed by La Magra. Detailing his "powers" is just redundant in an additional section. If La Magra was based on an actual mythological figure, then it would be fine to have this extra section. If additional information on La Magra is needed, then create a page for the topic and link it from within the Blade article.

I assume you're the one who created the section on La Magra in the first place and feel that because it was your contribution, it must therefore be infallible. The information is already summarized within the Plot section, making an addtional section that is just a rehash REDUNDANT. I would suggest adding more information to the section that makes it less extraneous, look up the phrase Magra maybe, give the reader some background info. But as it is it adds nothing to the article that hasn't already been stated earlier. Euphman 20:27, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
I agree, this information as well as that in traits should be within in the plot section if included at all. This article is about Blade the film. It doesn't really fit in about information concerning the general movie, but instead that of the plot of the general movie. Ignoring that, its information that concerns the plot and should be in that section. As it states it is "One of the major plots of the film" WakingJohn 20:42, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
This movie along with the sequel (Blade II) and X-Men are the only movies that do not have the Marvel Films logo although the movies are based on comic books from Marvel Comics.
This is factually false. Even if we modify it to "theatrically released movies" (thus excluding the early-90s Captain America and Punisher movies, the late-70s Dr. Strange movie, etc.), there are still two other "movies based on comic books from Marvel Comics" that lack the logo, namely Howard the Duck and the 1940s Captain America serial. Either they should be included, or this bit of incorrect trivia should be deleted. 207.31.229.4 16:21, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

...Or perhaps "vampire" testosterone? In both movies, when a captured and subdued Blade makes the threat to both Deacon Frost and other protagonists in subsequent movies, paraphrased "...Say what you like; but I promise you'll be dead by dawn!" I wonder if this is simply rage-filled, and perhaps Blade's singular, focused mind-set on killing his adversary; or could it be that Blade may just have the power of clairvoyance, among his other abilities? I do not know how this works, but this movie with it's box office/budget was a pioneer of what became Marvel/Disney. This film did 2.5x it's budget and without much publicity. For a rated R movie this was a huge deal, or did 2 sequels come after? Trinity stunk.
This article needs a rewrite, from the plot to the people involved. Wesley Snipes, along with Kris Kristofferson deserve more than a credit on this entry. Were the moderators even out of there pissing diapers when this was shown to them or they seen it 15 years later? Granted the CGI does NOT hold up. Give Snipes and Kristofferson credit for acting unlike most of the Marvel guys outside Robert Downy, and Chris Evans.
I wouldn't phrase it quite that way but this and other films from that time certainly have an important legacy. If someone wanted to start a Legacy section then a good place to start would the following article from Scott Mendelson " How 'Blade' And 'Spawn' Paved The Way For 'Black Panther'". (I would view Howard the Duck as a cautionary tale that scared studios off making comic book movies, and the Punisher films as examples of Hollywood not quite knowing what to do with comic book adaptations, especially R-rated stories.) Oh and yes, Blade: Trinity was hilariously awful. -- 109.79.91.135 ( talk) 16:33, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

Please note this article has been vandalized by an editor on a crusade [2] who deleted a deprecated source but made no effort to replace the deprecation source (or request a better reference) and instead took the lazy disruptive option of changing a reference to an an unhelpful citation needed tag. See WP:DAILYMAIL1 and WP:DAILYMAIL2. Another editor rightly acknowledged this behavior as "silly" and removed the spurious citation request and the accompanying text too. [3] This was a very predictable result of deleting the source instead of replacing it.
There is no indication the substance of the text it was ever disputed: "It is also hailed as one of Snipes' signature roles".
I make note of it here until I or someone else has time to fix this unfortunate vandalism, and restore the text with a better source. -- 109.78.218.56 ( talk) 12:53, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
Blade got a 4K rerelease in 2020 [5] [6] and Cineworld rereleased it in UK theatres for Halloween (October 29, 2021). [7]
I found a review that praised the film and emphasized its important legacy establishing Marvel superhero films as many have done already, but also notes how many things in this film predated the Matrix. [8] The review was also fairly forgiving "Admittedly, some of the effects do show their age, but they are largely acceptable". This might be worth mentioning in the article somewhere. -- 109.76.137.229 ( talk) 14:19, 26 November 2021 (UTC)
A while back an editor asked if film articles should include details about actors who auditioned for roles they did not get. /info/en/?search=Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Film#Should_we_mention_actor_auditions? The discussion essentially said it depends. A good questions was asked "what was the level of consideration?" and that should be asked again here in this article.
We don't have any sources to support the claim that Jet Li considered for the role, let alone that he was offered and turned down the role. This claim also contradicts my understanding from Lethal Weapon 4 that Jet Li did not want to be cast as a Hollywood villain. He was only reluctantly persuaded to do Lethal Weapon 4 by Joel Silver with the guarantee of the lead in Romeo Must Die. (This does fit with my own recollection but the Wikipedia entries for these do not appear to reliably sourced either.)
Similarly I have not been able to find sources for other cast that were allegedly "considered" for the role of Deacon Frost. My searches did not turn up any mention of Bruce Payne, Mark Wahlberg, or Skeet Ulrich in connection to this film, let alone a source that would clarify if they were ever given serious consideration versus casually suggested as a vague casting possibilities. I'm going to go ahead and remove these unsourced claims from the article.
Even if editors can eventually turn up sources to support these vague claims they still need to take care not to put undue weight on what may only have been random suggestions of no consequence. -- 109.76.203.58 ( talk) 14:46, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
Blade is a Marvel comics superhero and this is a superhero film. There may be elements of other genres, but the primary genre is clear enough. The WP:STATUSQUO for this article has been to refer to this as a superhero film. I didn't make this change initially, but I have restored it. (In the past the article has included various modifiers including "horror" or "supernatural" or "vampire" in the genre.) MOS:FILMGENRE says "Genre classifications should comply with WP:WEIGHT and represent what is specified by a majority of mainstream reliable sources."
It seems WP:UNDUE to mention anything other than the primary superhero genre. I see no good reason not to follow the guidelines. If other editors disagree I would encourage them to show sources for additional genres and to also prove that there is WP:DUE WP:WEIGHT to justify including more than just the primary genre.
If you disagree with WP:MOSFILM you should start a discussion and ask for the opinions of the more active film editors, but this seems like exactly the sort of unnecessary genre bloat the guidelines were warning against. (Finally, it seems preferable to stick to the primary genre and apply it consistently to all three films in the series.) -- 109.76.132.217 ( talk) 15:45, 4 December 2022 (UTC)
