Reasons I flagged this article:
1. There seems to be a great deal of information about the Bakewell Pudding shop, but very little about the actual foodstuff- eg, no photo, no mention of common brand-name products, even in passing. The article also fails to name the 'second' pudding shop.
2. I would suggest that the 'common name' of the food is actually Bakewell Tart, rather than the other way around.
3. The article states that the recipe is secret, when a quick google search throws up more recipes than I am willing to link to in an article.
4. Finally, the original author's story of the creation of the food is lacking in any evidence, quotes, etc.
This article is rather obviously a thinly disguised advertisement for the shop to which most of the content refers. The Bakewell Tart article already makes a reference to the variant Bakewell Pudding, and I would suggest that it may be appropriate to further expand the Bakewell Tart article (without compromising its neutrality) and leaving a redirect here. I find it odd that the editor that suggested the merger of these two articles has said nothing on the matter, either here, or on the talk page of the Bakewell Tart article. Does anyone have an alternate suggestion on how to proceed? Bakewell Tart 10:19, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
De-merged I've have re-established this article in its own right. There is far more reference to the term pudding than there is tart. There is also a sufficiently obvious distinction between the two confections for the articles to stand in their own right. Pol430 talk to me 18:12, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
