Why is there a "Tribunal history" section in the article. His record is not THAT bad, over a long career - just what is intended to be imputed?
the references to his performance and the wording of this article is a joke... "he turned on the style"... this is an encyclopedia not a fan book. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.45.119.120 ( talk) 12:27, 10 May 2008 (UTC) ask hin what job you do — Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.215.133.174 ( talk) 03:14, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
This article could use a few - for instance the reference to South Melbourne is not explained. Mentions of positions that Goodes plays are not explained - why would you be retired from rucking?
Perhaps some of these terms can be linked to other articles. Anyway I'll leave it to the experts. I just don't think it would read very well to someone who has absolutely no idea about AFL.
he is also in the aboriginal team of the century '
Why does the article pull its punch in respect to the racial vilification he suffered from Eddie McGuire, who broadcast his disgusting comment to a radio audience of tens of thousands of listeners, and then before his so-called apology, stated "I didn't racially vilify anyone"?
It should simply state that Goodes is a champion AFL footballer and proud Indigenous Australian who was the victim of unprovoked racial vilification from the President of the Collingwood Football Club whilst broadcasting his commercial radio program.
Why don't we just insert the facts?
It also needs to mention his role in turning a 13 year old girl into a media circus.
No mention of his comments of Australia Day = Invasion Day which also caused a lot of public controversy. The Booing reminds me of the Hadlee's a Wanker chant from the 80s. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.28.37.83 ( talk • contribs)

When a football crowd seemed to be booing Adam Goodes, they were actually booing the 'politically correct' media that had been defaming the people in the stadium as racists. The attendees at the football event had no
problems with other aboriginal footballers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.129.97.45 ( talk) 23:09, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

HappyWaldo - it would have been more courteous to discuss your edit removing the commentary section I had added before summarily removing it. I believe it is pertinent if only for the reason that the largest section in this article is "Controversy", and the citation refers to a radio programme which refers directly to this controversy. I suspect that far more people know of Goodes because of the reporting on these incidents than as an AFL player, and the issue is part of a bigger conversation about race and identity. Is that 2008 spat on the radio worth occupying a paragraph in the article? Just asking because, reading about it, it doesn't seem huge and I'm wondering whether it belongs in the article as per WP:RECENTISM. (Not being an AFL fan, I wouldn't know - perhaps it was big at the time?) Laterthanyouthink ( talk) 03:17, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
Responding to the undated question at the top of this page, the tribunal section is strange. I searched a few notable AFL players' pages and could not find anyone else who has one. Does any other player have one? Given his record is a total suspension of 2 games in a 340 game career, which I suspect is below average, I suggest it be de-emphasised, by moving the table into the "Statistics" section. Adpete ( talk) 01:37, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
I dig a bit of digging, and it was added by an IP account on 23 October 2011 [1] . The same user put similar tables in for Brett Kirk and Leo Barry the same day [2] [3], though those were quickly removed. It seems to me like a set of Good Faith edits by a Swans fan, rather than an attempt to discredit Goodes. I see it's been removed now, but I'm reluctant to delete referenced content; though a bigger problem is it is incomplete, e.g. this ref says he was suspended after a pre-season game in 2012. [4] If we can find a reliable reference saying something like "Goodes was suspended X times in his career for Y game" I think it should go back in. Adpete ( talk) 05:13, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
I think it all started in 2013 when ADAM pointed the girl out to security. She called him “an ape” what is a very mild expression in many European languages. At schools in Europe many children call each other “an ape” every day. It is less offensive than bustard. That time we were shocked how the girl was treated and we came to the conclusion that ADAM‘s reaction was exaggerated. Everyone blamed the girl and it was wrong. Since that time the public didn’t like ADAM. It’s a pity that no one explained it to him that time.
