Poshekhonsky District ( Russian: Пошехо́нский райо́н) is an administrative [1] and municipal [6] district ( raion), one of the seventeen in Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia. It is located in the north of the oblast. The area of the district is 4,400 square kilometers (1,700 sq mi). [2] Its administrative center is the town of Poshekhonye. [1] Population: 14,292 ( 2010 Census); [3] 18,209 ( 2002 Census); [8] 22,734 ( 1989 Soviet census). [9] The population of Poshekhonye accounts for 42.6% of the district's total population. [3]
