Petrovsky District ( Russian: Петро́вский райо́н) is an administrative [1] and municipal [6] district ( raion), one of the thirty-eight in Saratov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the north of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,300 square kilometers (890 sq mi). [3] Its administrative center is the town of Petrovsk [2] (which is not administratively a part of the district). [9] Population: 14,538 ( 2010 Census); [4] 16,474 ( 2002 Census); [10] 15,104 ( 1989 Soviet census). [11]
Within the framework of administrative divisions, Petrovsky District is one of the thirty-eight in the oblast. [1] The town of Petrovsk serves as its administrative center, [2] despite being incorporated separately as a town under oblast jurisdiction—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts. [9]
As a municipal division, the district is incorporated as Petrovsky Municipal District, [6] with Petrovsk Town Under Oblast Jurisdiction being incorporated within it as Petrovsk Urban Settlement. [7]
