Potter has served as a Professor, of the department of Philosophy and South Asian Studies at the University of Washington.[6] He has been called an eminent scholar by his peers.[7]
He is credited with a number of books on the topic.[8][9][10][11] The
Government of India honored Potter in 2011 with the fourth highest civilian award of
Padma Shri.[12][13] Potter died in January 2022, at the age of 94.[14]
