Underworld crossover

@ Facu-el Millo:, @ Favre1fan93:, @ Adamstom.97:. I’m inquiring into the information @ DisneyMetalhead: keeps insisting on adding about a hypothetical crossover between the New Line Cinema version of the character with the Underworld film series. It to me has no barrings on the development on the MCU version of this character and must be excluded. Thoughts? Rusted AutoParts 22:57, 21 July 2019 (UTC) reply

@ Richiekim:, your thoughts? Rusted AutoParts 00:53, 22 July 2019 (UTC) reply
Pinging @ TriiipleThreat: as well. Rusted AutoParts 00:53, 22 July 2019 (UTC) reply

I know I wasn't pinged, but I would like to add my two cents to this matter. This proposed Underworld crossover sounds like it could of been a Blade 4 or a remake ONLY from New Line Cinema. The information provided pre-dates the time when Marvel/Disney got the rights to Blade. I agree with you this Underworld crossover has no connection to the MCU or anything related to Disney. I couldn't even find any news on this crossover, in regards to anyone attatched to a working script or a directorial position. I am willing to support a decision of only allowing MCU/Kevin Feige news, concerning Blade, on this wikipedia page. I hope this helps. Cardei012597 ( talk) 01:34, 22 July 2019 (UTC) reply

I don't insist on anything. What I have included are the original/reliable sources that tell us that these events occurred. Perhaps the Underworld crossover film information is better suited for the Underworld and the Blade film series pages(?). The way I see it - it's relatable to the MCU film, in that it was the first time in years that any new regarding an MCU Blade was brought up/confirmed.-- DisneyMetalhead ( talk) 21:23, 24 July 2019 (UTC) reply
You kept adding it back in initial removals. The info about the MCU looking at doing Blade is informative, the Blade/Underworld crossover is not because it’s not relevant to this version of Blade. Rusted AutoParts 23:10, 26 July 2019 (UTC) reply

It is best to leave off this Underworld crossover stuff from this specific page. Cardei012597 ( talk) 23:00, 26 July 2019 (UTC) reply

Blade real name

What do you mean "That name is not confirmed"?. Blade's real name in the comics is Eric Brooks obviously. Many other characters (from the comics) retained their comics name in MCU alone Kohcohf ( talk) 10:15, 3 February 2021 (UTC) reply

We still need a reliable source using that name to refer to the film version of the character. It's the same reason why we don't include the "Black Knight" alias for the character of Dane Whitman yet in Eternals. We don't just get to assume it will be used. — El Millo ( talk) 14:20, 3 February 2021 (UTC) reply
Yeah, we can't assume that they will name him "Eric Brooks" in the MCU. We know Blade is coming, not that Eric Brooks is coming. - Favre1fan93 ( talk) 15:39, 3 February 2021 (UTC) reply
Ok 👌 thank you clearing it Kohcohf ( talk) 15:42, 3 February 2021 (UTC) reply
No worries. Will Ali be playing Brooks? Most likely, yeah. All the material that's come out of what Marvel's told us is that it's "Blade" so we can't make that assumption. - Favre1fan93 ( talk) 15:58, 3 February 2021 (UTC) reply

The Vampire Slayer

Are we sure this is the new name? I feel this title would've been unveiled when Feige discussed Blade at the Investor Day. As of then, the title card was still just Blade. Rusted AutoParts 23:03, 5 February 2021 (UTC) reply

I think the evidence we have for this being the new title is weak, and I felt the sudden page move was probably jumping the gun a bit. - adamstom97 ( talk) 00:18, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply
Especially whne other sources like Deadline just clal it Blade still. Rusted AutoParts 00:22, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply
I also found the source to be weak but felt since THR is exclusively reporting on the news that they likely heard of it and other sites haven't really picked up on it. If it turns out to be incorrect, we can always revert back. Trailblazer101 ( talk) 00:38, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply
I feel it best we move back to just Blade until *The Vampire Slayer* is more corroborated. Rusted AutoParts 00:39, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply
It's possible they were referring to the comics naming, and happened to put it in the italics. But THR is usually good with this stuff.... - Favre1fan93 ( talk) 01:10, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply
They are, and I’m not here to cast doubts on their accuracy, but giving (what I’ve seen anyway) other sources aren’t using the Vampire Slayer tag, nor was it unveiled during Investor Day where I feel it would’ve made more sense to unveil the full name as opposed to a random blurb in a THR article, it’s probably safest to err on the side of the caution and return to just Blade. Rusted AutoParts 02:50, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply
Collider and Comicbook.com have also called this the title. Trailblazer101 ( talk) 03:49, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply
Both seem to just be reacting to THR’s report. Comicbook specifically stated they were reaching out to Marvel for clarification on the title. Rusted AutoParts 03:51, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply
Yeah I think we should restore everything and wait until further confirmation, as I agree that THR was likely referring to the comics in their article when they said that and both Collider and CB are just reacting to the same report that we are. - adamstom97 ( talk) 06:44, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply
I would add that the THR article's author uses both "BLADE" in this tweet and "Marvel’s BLADE THE VAMPIRE HUNTER movie" in this tweet and THR's Heat Vision newsletter only uses "BLADE". - adamstom97 ( talk) 07:00, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply
How I see it is that THR is likely reporting this is the title of the project, given they state Marvel Studios’ Blade, the Vampire Slayer feature has found its writer., specifically referring to it as Marvel Studios' feature. The article title also says Marvel Studios' 'Blade' Movie, and then everywhere else in the article they don't mention it being titled 'Blade', appearing that this is the title and when they refer to it as Marvel Studios' 'Blade' Movie, it seems to be shorthand for the longer title. Kit's first tweet calls it Blade, likely based on the article's shorthand title he linked to. The second tweet, which was posted first, links to the Heat Vision article which calls it Blade in the top only before referring to it as the feature reboot of Marvel’s vampire-hunting hero that will star Mahershala Ali., and in that tweet, Kit says Marvel’s BLADE THE VAMPIRE HUNTER movie finally finds its writer! Prior reports hadn't used the Vampire Slayer in the title, so from my perspective, things seem to point this being the title. Trailblazer101 ( talk) 16:55, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply
Also, I feel as to why this title wasn't stated anywhere beforehand is likely because Marvel Studios either wanted to wait on finalizing the title when they locked in a writer or the title was only coined during negotiations. THR has validity with their report, so I feel this should be addressed rather than just disregarded. Trailblazer101 ( talk) 20:47, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply
I don't know, the way I interpreted it was when they only say "Blade" they are using that as a title, but when they say "Marvel's Blade, the Vampire Slayer movie" they are referring to Marvel's movie based on the Blade, the Vampire Slayer comics. Either way, I think there is definitely enough uncertainty to revert back and wait for further clarification. - adamstom97 ( talk) 20:51, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply

Adamstom.97, Trailblazer101, Rusted AutoParts, Favre1fan93, per discussion, I have reverted the name back. Starzoner ( talk) 22:49, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply

That feels very abrupt to me given we didn't formalize a specific agreement, but I was going to say I guess we can move it back but mention the title was reported in some way. Trailblazer101 ( talk) 23:32, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply
There has been a lot of very abrupt page moves lately... - adamstom97 ( talk) 23:51, 6 February 2021 (UTC) reply
sorry I'll move it back then, ok? Starzoner ( talk) 00:24, 7 February 2021 (UTC) reply
No, it's alright. We can wait and see if the title changes, but it is best to leave it as is. Trailblazer101 ( talk) 03:14, 7 February 2021 (UTC) reply
Just playing devil's advocate about this, in THR's article for the Falcon & Winter Soldier trailer, when they are listing the upcoming Marvel Disney+ titles, they format them as: Other shows due out in 2021 include Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye and the animated What If? Obviously we know Hawkeye isn't being retitled to "Hawkeye and the animated What If?" and those are two separate projects, but it just lends to the idea that it is possible Kit did not format the info in Blade's article correctly. - Favre1fan93 ( talk) 15:57, 8 February 2021 (UTC) reply
I didn't seriously consider that until now. It seems like it could've just been a formatting error. Thanks for that. I'm not sure if we should remove that reported title bit from the article or not. I'd be happy to remove it if agreed upon, given the only sources discussing it are responding to THR's article. Trailblazer101 ( talk) 16:03, 8 February 2021 (UTC) reply

Release date

Heads up, it’s making the rounds on social media that the film is releasing on October 7, 2022. I very much doubt this is the case and there is no official source confirming this. Just pointing this out in the event editors start coming in to add the purported release date. Rusted AutoParts 11:24, 5 October 2021 (UTC) reply

Yup, I saw this and agree this is not the case. I think at one point in time, it was on that date, but Marvel Studios has since released its hold on it and all signs, given when production is starting, is it taking one of the 2023 dates. - Favre1fan93 ( talk) 15:01, 5 October 2021 (UTC) reply

Tariq co-wrote the script with Osei-Kuffour according to ComicBook

https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/blade-mahershala-ali-begins-filming-soon/ If this is enough to include in the draft, that's fine. - TrixieCat123 ( User talk:TrixieCat123) 22:09, 4 September 2022 (UTC) reply

ComicBook appears to be getting that bit of info from this Tom's Guide interview with Tariq in which he said writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour was "a partner in crime", or more likely from The Ronin which claims Tariq is contributing to the script in some capacity, although that site is unreliable. I would say the Tom's Guide interview is not enough to state he implied a script contribution from him, so the best course of action is to wait on this. The interview and another one from that time do have some good bits that I'm going through, but they don't explicitly confirm Tariq is co-writing or that he is working on the script without us making assumptions.
