If you're an ambassador and you need to be assigned the the online volunteer and/or campus volunteer user right (for Online and Campus Ambassadors, respectively), please post at the education noticeboard and note which right(s) you need. These rights are used for the new course pages; they let you edit the course pages, and add yourself as an ambassador on the course page. Once you have that, you should set up a profile at Special:OnlineAmbassadorProfile and/or Special:CampusAmbassadorProfile. 1. Why do you want to be a Wikipedia Ambassador?

   I am (and always have been) very passionate about Wikipedia, and I share that passion whenever I can. I'd love the opportunity to work face-to-face with people to help get them acquainted with the way things work around here.

2. Where are you based, and which educational institution(s) do you plan to work with as a Campus Ambassador?

   I am based in the Buffalo, NY, area (specifically Amherst), and can work with any local educational institution that decides to begin a project.

3. What is your academic and/or professional background?

   I am currently in my second year of undergrad, although I am a second-semester junior if you go by number of credits earned.

4. In three sentences or less, summarize your prior experience with Wikimedia projects.

   I've been editing Wikipedia from this account for just under three and a half years; before that, I edited as an IP from 2006/2007 up until I created my account. I've contributed to many pages in many different ways—template editing, copy editing, translation, WikiGnoming, vandalism reversion, new pages patrolling, and more.

5. What else should we know about you that is relevant to being a Wikipedia Ambassador?

   There aren't any projects starting up in the Buffalo area that I know of; the reason I'm applying now is to make myself available so that if a project does start up in this area, the teachers/professors will be able to find someone who can team up with them in person right away.

• Although I'm not the RA for your area, you certainly look like a pretty good candidate to be a CA to me given your previous experience with Wikipedia. Although there is some benefit of just having a campus ambassador profile, you're definitely much more likely to end up with a class if you conduct proactive outreach to professors, and I suspect you'd find that easier than you'd think. If you feel up for doing so, I would certainly encourage you to do so. The vast majority of colleges that have courses in the USEP have those courses because an interested Wikipedian suggested them.   @ Kevin Gorman: I'm not entirely sure how to go about reaching out to professors on my campus. I'm in a department of my school (theatre design & tech) that largely doesn't interface with other departments the way "traditional" disciplines (e.g., history, languages, mathematics) do. Do you have any suggestions on where to start looking? If you reply to this, a ping would definitely be appreciated! Hello Cymru.lass! (Ping to Kevin Gorman as well.) Did you happen to consider the online ambassador role any before you filled out the campus ambassador application? I'm just curious. • Cymru.lass: although it feels awkward, I've had pretty good luck just figuring out what departments or professors I'd like to work with and basically cold-calling (well, cold-emailing) them. I know where I went to college at least it was also quite common for departmental advisors to forward to their department's listservs almost any announcements they were asked to, even when asked by students outside of their departments, so another option would be writing up a description of the education program encouraging people to contact you if they are interested in participating in it and asking a few advisors/equivalent people to forward it around. I'm also going to go ahead and give you the OA userright which will allow you to set up an online ambassador profile as well as a couple other things.    I initially looked up the programme information of curiosity, but as I read the job description, I intensely felt that this was something I wanted to be a part of. I enjoy working with people, and would welcome the opportunity to be a part of the ambassador team. I am extremely passionate about the work I undertake and I am motivated to deliver high-quality work. I believe that Wikipedia an excellent platform for my colleagues to voice their ideas and learn from other's portrayal of ideas and that is why I want to promote it.
