I've just noticed that I no longer have access to JSTOR, and I see Ealdgyth has posted the same on Nikkimaria's talk. Is anyone else affected? SarahSV ^(talk) 19:22, 8 August 2016 (UTC)

1. I followed the instructions after clicking the Read Online button, and got "Read Online (Beta) Read Online (Free) relies on page scans, which are not currently available to screen readers. To access this article, please contact JSTOR User Support. We'll provide a PDF copy for your screen reader."
2. I put it in my JSTOR shelf, and waited several days
3. This TOC of thumbnails can display
4. However, clicking a thumbnail no longer displays the page of the article, which is 800 pp.long.

Before, I could log in, select a thumbnail from the TOC, and page through the article, online. -- Ancheta Wis   (talk | contribs)

From what I understand, and I'm trying to clarify this, is that we were able to get JSTOR to extend the accounts through the "first two quarters of 2016", implying that expiry around now seems expected. I'm now talking to them about getting the accounts extended further, and I'll report back when I know more (this may not be very soon unfortunately). @ Samwalton9:Thanx, I'll take a look at those, but the first is sort of a kludge since I think you'd have to add 10.2307 to the last piece of the URL and I'm not sure. (And I generally consider VE to be an abomination, but that's a different story). And as for the cite Journal in the old cite editor, I can type those fields in text faster than entering the exact same information into a popup.

I've been told all accounts approved prior to October 25 have now been processed. If you are a new applicant you should have received an email (check your spam folder), and if you are a previous recipient your old account should now be active. Hm. AFAIK those subscriptions weren't picked up in the TWL batch, which is why yours wasn't renewed. If you can create an app on LC with your JSTOR username included it can be sent in with the next set. Nikkimaria ( talk) 02:27, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

It means, as far as I know, that people who were given access by Raul/Steven were not included in the batch assigned to TWL. However, those people can renew access by submitting an application on Library Card that includes their existing JSTOR username. Nikkimaria ( talk) 03:06, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

JSTOR provided a set of accounts to The Wikipedia Library to distribute to editors. That set and the set distributed by Raul/Steven are not the same. I expect that the latter group were previously being lumped in to the former by JSTOR, but I don't know that for sure. Nor do I know specifically who was in the latter group and not the former, and so I have no way of knowing how many there are or how to contact them. Ocaasi may have more information. If that can't happen for some reason, and if we have to reapply, we should make an effort to alert the older subscribers so that they have some notice. Same here. When I log in to JSTOR, I also get a notice that there are only 6 free article views remaining, and there is no more notice that my access is provided by the Wikimedia Foundation. I had reapplied after I had been notified on Meta-Wiki in August. Now I've just realised that my access has expired. So, I've again reapplied on the Library Card Platform. I was advised above to reapply at Wikipedia:JSTOR and explain that I used to have access but the earliest subscribers were missed in the latest round. A few days ago, I also emailed JSTOR, and they replied recently that I had access again (they said they had had to make a change on my account). • I don't recall seeing "Library Card" before today. I've always just logged in at Jstor. For spam-trapping purposes, I happen to have a different email on them though (and just to make life awkward, the whole server hosting for that domain is currently getting shifted between hosts).

@ Andy Dingley: Your JSTOR account is set up under the email listed in your Library Card account - could you attempt logging in with that? My Jstor account has never had the same email address as my WP account. As a general rule, I don't share such addresses, so that I can trap which ones start sending me spam.

I can't (just tried it) change the email address on my Jstor page to the same as the WP address. It complains with "The email address you entered has already been registered with an account." But I don't know any way to login to Jstor by email address, rather than by the Jstor account name.

I am logged in to Jstor. I have a profile page there. But it seems that this account is now dead, and possibly the "Library Card" system has created me a new one, which I've no idea how to access. I don't know what the account name would be. I don't know what the password would be (I've never set one on that account, not having seen the account before).
