Description | Not sure if you guys have seen the ANI dustup [1] about capitalization changes, but it appears there is no consensus at the present time to always "ucfirst" templates and that these types of changes (that automatically change the capitalization originally set) are undesirable. – xeno talk 15:29, 4 October 2010 (UTC) |

Forgive me for the perception Sladen but I am getting the impression that you believe that AWB is new with limited usefullness. That truth is that AWB is used for much much more than simple syntax fixes and has been around and accepted for a long time. You make it sound as though we AWB users are a misinterpretted data cult. The functionality in AWB allows us to make changes, additions, etc to articles in WP at a rate far beyond what a normal editor could do moving from article to article manually. Without AWB WP would be a much much less reliable site than it is today. And your vocalization that AWB is a tolerated nuisance is quite out of place.
Back to the subject at hand, I personally prefer that template start with upper case but I also know that is my preference and others feel differently. In the end it doesnt really matter because WP treats it the same and I feel as though we are spending a lot of time on a nonproblem. In WP there is always someone who is going to disagree and thats something we have to deal with. With that said I like Rj's idea that the date tagger be a subpage so that users could potentially modify it as is currently done with the typos. So here is my suggestions:
And my unreserved apologies to the AWB community for being the trigger of this.

Description | AWB adds a misplaced DEFAULTSORT to a page which is transcluded on another page, providing an incorrect sort key for the transcluding page and causing a sort conflict if that page already has a DEFAULTSORT . (Today's examples, 1, 2, 3, and 4, were all bot edits, but I've previously seen it done by regular users too.) My suggestion: if a page has </noinclude>s, consider the last </noinclude> to be the end of the page and add DEFAULTSORT accordingly, either immediately before that </noinclude> or before any categories, stubs, and/or interwikis present in the <noinclude> section. Description | Im not sure if this is a bug so I am phrasing it as a general question and if its in the wrong place I apologize. I think there might be a problem with the multiple issues logic but Im not sure. I recently made a couple of edits to the
Thomas Ford (politician) article and after looking at the number of maintenance templates expected the multiple issues logic to kick in. But it didnt and after doing some research I cant figure out why it didnt work. The article has the following maintenance templates at the top:
When it didnt work on the first edit here I thought it might be because they were redirects so I changed them to the correct template name in this edit. Then I checked to make sure that they were on the list and they were. Does it only work for 3 or more templates? At the same time I also noticed that there is a section variant of the Multiple issues template by adding |section=y. Does AWB support that? Also just as an FYI I added a comment to Template talk:Multiple issues#Suggestion for a couple additions to add a couple more templates to the list of possibilities. --14:46, 19 October 2010 (UTC) Kumioko ( talk) |

However, if I put the hyphen in the wrong part of the expression, the current article is skipped even though I get a regex error message.

It shouldn't. Check the Manual of Style. This one has to be replaced to like that. In fact, since the death date is missing there is now discussion and some editors suggest that we omit the "13 September" and add it in the main text only. Certainly, "b." and "d." should be avoided for dead people. -- Magioladitis ( talk) 06:46, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Description |
Wikipedia:PERSONDATA#Dates of birth and death states "Follow the
Manual of Style guidelines on whether to use DD Month YYYY format or the Month DD, YYYY style when filling the |DATE OF BIRTH= and |DATE OF DEATH= fields". However, sometimes AWB populates the dates in YYYY-MM-DD format.

2. If you manually add Category:xxxx births, delete the {{ Uncategorized}} template and re-parse, AWB adds {{ DEFAULTSORT}}, Persondata, Category:Living people (all good), but re-adds {{ Uncategorized}} GoingBatty ( talk) 03:56, 20 November 2010 (UTC) |

I can't see that there is an error in the regex but I reserve the right to be wrong!
Related bug/issue if I set to skip if minor replacements only, with this replacement set to non-minor, it skips, even when the replacement occurs.

This bot works with the exact same settings on another wiki, it is just this wiki that has this problem. My api.php is located in the root folder: http://deadrisingwiki.com/api.php Screenshots Changing the word Mediawiki to test on the page Tet |
