The project coordinators are generally responsible for maintaining all of the procedural and administrative aspects of the project, and serve as the designated points-of-contact for procedural issues. They are not, however, endowed with any special executive powers.
The Lead Coordinator bears overall responsibility for coordinating the project; the Coordinators aid the Lead Coordinator and focus on specific areas that require special attention.
From Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Coordinators:
The primary responsibility of the project coordinators is the maintenance and housekeeping work involved in keeping the project and its internal processes running smoothly; this includes a variety of tasks, such as keeping the announcement and open task lists updated, overseeing the assessment and review processes, managing the proposal and creation of task forces, and so forth. There is fairly little involved that couldn't theoretically be done by any other editor, of course—in only a few places have the coordinators been explicitly written into a process—but, since experience suggests that people tend to assume that someone else is doing whatever needs to be done, it has proven beneficial to formally delegate responsibility for this administrative work to a specified group.
The coordinators also have several additional roles. They serve as the project's designated points of contact, and are explicitly listed as people to whom questions can be directed in a variety of places around the project. They also try to regularly contribute to the reviews involving film-related articles, looking out in particular for reviews which require additional voices. In addition, they have highly informal roles in leading the drafting of project guidelines, overseeing the implementation of project decisions on issues like category schemes and template use, and helping to informally resolve disputes and keep discussions from becoming heated and unproductive. The coordinators are not, however, a body for formal dispute resolution; serious disputes should be addressed through the normal dispute resolution process.

One of the areas of involvement is in providing reviews and commentary on "works-in-progress" in that my main area of expertise is in fact-checking and delving into the "black magic" of reference sourcing. This aspect of editing may seem a tedious task nonetheless, but newcomers and emergent writers may find difficulty in creating a "flow" of ideas and concepts. In that regard, my efforts have not been entirely centred (note Canadianisms may pop up in my language...) on film but have migrated to a number of interests that I have, including aviation, automobiles, biographies of famous persons, public affairs and a host of other topics that sometimes "tweak" my attention. Where I first began editing in the WikiProject Films community is in creating a series of articles that related film and aviation subjects. One of the first was:
Other film articles in which I have contributed or played a major role in writing/editing would encompass a fairly large list (now with entries ranging in the 20,000+ category), but the following sample provides a look at some of the areas of interest in which I have recently worked:
While I would not categorize this aspect of my work as a "skill" but I do bring a love of films and film personalities to the project. As a child I was transfixed by the films of Frank Capra, a passion that remains to this day. I admit to a predaliction for classic films but I remain an avid moviegoer and take in all the current offerings as well. The skills I bring to the WikiProject Film Coordinator role stem from my past background as a librarian (33 years in the "stacks"), my recent veering off into another aspect of the literary world as an author and editor, and an "association" with the film industry where I have served in various roles on over a dozen films, ranging from: extra (my first film where I seriously "mugged" in the background but have a 30-second appearance), gaffer (two films), "best boy" (one film out in the miserable cold of a winter's day), screenwriter (three films), consultant (six films, mainly resulting from my being the author of the adapted book or story) and director (I fell into the job on two documentary projects when one of the directors was unavailable at the last moment).
Seriously, my real benefit to the role is in having a three-year experience with Wikipedia morays, "learning the ropes" and acting as a peer with others in working up film articles. As many can appreciate, the structures and forms that are part of the architecture of the project are forever evolving and being able to deal with change is an essential aspect of working collaboratively. Over these three years, I have interacted with hundreds of editors and although there are occasional forays into unfathomable behaviours (remember, I do write in Canajun), for the most part, my dealing with other editors has been a rewarding experience and I now can count on friends in nearly every continent (not sure about Antarctica, but I do know a pilot who regularly flies into that vast territory...) and have found that working in a cooperative and collaborative atmosphere, entirely stimulating and refreshing.

Limetolime ( talk · contribs) Hello everyone! It's me, Limetolime. I've been an assistant coordinator for the past six months and I hope you'll re-elect me! It has been great reading and contributing to WP:FILM discussions, and helping other people with their peoblems. I have been away for longer than I had hoped, but school was such a big problem it kept me away. Anyway, I love writing/contributing to articles, and I hope you guys will keep me on the team. Creating articles and bringing them up to GA and FA class. My most prized one is Superman (film series). I have also worked with Jurassic Park (franchise) (GA), and The Muppets' Wizard of Oz (GA). I will try and improve more articles in the future.
I have plenty of knowledge within the Wikipedia community, especially within Wikiproject Films. Many users have asked me for help and support whenever they needed it, and I delivered. I'm great for people who need little help, a LOT of help, or are just simply confused and don't where to begin. I also contribute thoughtful suggestions and comments whenever needed.
Support. Awaiting answer to GS's question above. Sorry, I must strike my support permanently (although I don't oppose). I'm a little concerned about commitment, clarity of objectives and ability to work with the other coordinators. Maybe I'm overreacting, but there's plenty of wonderful things you can do for the project without being in a coordinator position. I don't feel I can support at this time. --

Nehrams2020 ( talk · contribs) Hey, I've been a part of WP:FILMS for more than two years and have previously served as coordinator twice. I enjoy working in multiple areas of the project including the Assessment, Spotlight, and Outreach departments, along with writing the monthly newsletter and welcoming new members. This may be my last time I am able to serve, and I'd enjoy assisting the other coordinators in further expanding our project's scope and quality of articles. -- Nehrams2020 ( talk) 22:03, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
I am most proud of my eight film GAs (one of which is at FAC), helping to assess all of the ~45,000 articles in our project, and making sure the newsletter is sent out each month.
As an administrator I am able to reclaim deleted material if necessary, edit protected pages, and block editors who have vandalized and been sufficiently warned. I know and visit many of the departments and areas of the project, and have edited thousands of film articles in hopes of improving their quality. Since serving as coordinator for two terms now, I know the process, join in on the discussions, and work on assisting with more of our reviews of articles.
Sephiroth BCR ( talk · contribs) Hello, I joined WP:FILM a couple months ago and hope to be a coordinator specifically for the coordination of featured lists and topics. A more detailed reasoning can be seen below. sephiroth bcr ( converse) 20:13, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Bzuk, Ecoleetage, Erik, Girolamo Savonarola, Nehrams2020, Sephiroth BCR, and Steve will fill the seven coordinator slots based on the above tally of votes. While Erik received the most votes, he declined taking on the position of lead coordinator, so Girolamo Savonarola, with the second most votes, continues in this position.
Please make any general comments not related to one of the candidates on the talk page.
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. We have seven slots and seven candidates - I propose that Girolamo Savonarola is lead and the other six are made up as coordinators, and a message sent out to the project members. There's no point in going through the motions just for the sake of going through the motions.

Another consideration: The lead coordinator is the one who receives the most "support" votes. Going through the motions will reflect who will take that particular position. (Though it's not really a position of authority.) — Erik ( talk • contrib) - 12:25, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
