Homebuy

Hi, following your offer (at archive 12), please would you provide a copy of the deleted article Homebuy at User:Fayenatic_london/Sandbox, so that I can incorporate anything worthwhile into Equity sharing? - Fayenatic (talk) 22:40, 7 July 2009 (UTC) reply

No problem, and my apologies for the long wait! Let me know when the revised copy is done so I can review it. — Coralmizu (Mizu onna sango15) Drop a line 03:52, 14 July 2009 (UTC) reply
Thanks very much. I edited it heavily, and merged it into Equity sharing. - Fayenatic (talk) 13:16, 16 July 2009 (UTC) reply
Cool. It's a little tone-y, but with a little time it'll grow (maybe not in proportional size, but as far a quality is concerned it'll get richer). :-) — Coralmizu (Mizu onna sango15) Drop a line 20:16, 16 July 2009 (UTC) reply

Hello stranger

Hi Mizu - it's a lovely surprise to hear from you (I'm so glad you haven't vanished!), and I'd be delighted to help out with M. Todd once more. I am fairly busy, but I'll try to take a look at the article in the near future. Welcome back! EyeSerene talk 11:17, 14 July 2009 (UTC) reply

Deleting Bardenay

The Bardenay does have historical significance in the US as the first licensed distillery pub. Its existence is of significance to the artisanal distilling movement. It deserves to be listed as much if not more than Red Robin, Chilies etc. The original posting was made last night with the intention of adding backup information soon but all of the information is factual, not qualitative.

Hello (Adopt-a-User)

I found you through the Adopt-a-User program and was wondering if you could help me. I'm not entirely new, but am still an inexperienced editor. I noticed that you're involved in WikiProject Japan - I have a particular interest in J-rock (I've currently been working on the Luci'fer Luscious Violenoue page and hope to edit/create more J-rock articles in the future), but am also especially concerned with the Clint Catalyst page at the moment, due to a long period of scrutiny.

I've been trying to raise its class above "start", but my/other editors' policy questions have gone unanswered or been rudely rejected (some of the other editors of this article have been bullied off, including User:Tallulah13 who left Wikipedia entirely over the issue) - much of this can be seen on the article's Talk page regarding matters such as how to cite musical collaborations, references that only exist in print, as well as the continued deletion of the subject's TV production credits (which have been cited using reputable trade magazines such as variety.com, his well-publicized history as a producer on America's Next Top Model, and executive producer/co-exec credits from ABC/ABC Family). The main editor who has been removing nearly all content added to the page claims to not know what spoken word is (though it has been explained) and uses that as an excuse to remove all references to the subject's history/continued career as a spoken word performance artist - also often making false assumptions, such as claiming that the performances were "open mic" or "readings rather than spoken word".

Also regarding the subject's status as a screenwriter, which has been disputed by said editor (see on Talk page where a statement is made that WGA membership isn't limited to screenwriters, despite lack of proof backing this claim up) - I have obtained a document from Catalyst's legal representation with the help of a WGA member proving that he has indeed written a screenplay in a professional situation. Is there a way I could use this evidence in regards to the article, and if so, how/where should I submit it?

I know this may be overwhelming, but I am concerned about the quality of my edits in improving the encyclopedic value of the articles (on my Talk page, the editor also suggests that I have incorrectly interpreted 3RR, among other policies - am I wrong in assuming that removal of an edit's content is the same as reverting the edit?) and am hoping you could please help me.

If it's not too much to ask, could you also please have a look at my edits to the Luci'fer Luscious Violenoue article, as it has a few warning templates at the top? I realize I need to find more sourcing - is it OK to cite Japanese-language documents on the English Wikipedia?

Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated, I hope it's not too much of a burden. Thanks in advance. Granny Bebeb ( talk) 00:32, 27 July 2009 (UTC) reply

All right, I'll tell you what. I will adopt you and show you what you need (although mostly, WP:CIVIL and WP:MOS would sufficiently cover most of it), but I would suggest you abstain from anything that will cause a dispute or edit war, and maybe give Luci'fer Luscious Violenou a break until we've covered some of the style guidelines. By the way, citing Japanese documents is no problem usually. — Coralmizu (Mizu onna sango15) Drop a line 04:36, 5 August 2009 (UTC) reply
Thank you. I want to add that I have not been trying to cause an edit war and am not sure why there is so much hostility going on - I just want to be sure that important and valid information (which has been properly cited and in some cases approved by other administrators) is included in the article. I am glad to know that Japanese sources are OK here - I am sure they will prove useful in many of the articles I hope to edit. Granny Bebeb ( talk) 01:07, 15 August 2009 (UTC) reply
Not to worry. From where would you like to begin? — Coralmizu (Mizu onna sango15) Drop a line 07:09, 15 August 2009 (UTC) reply
Well, I guess for starters...a print source I used (to the template as far as I could tell, though I omitted a few lines that didn't seem to apply) didn't show up right in the Clint Catalyst article, regarding the Parlour Club performance. What exactly did I do wrong?

Also regarding that article, the subject's performance at Writers with Drinks was removed again under the statement that "readings aren't spoken word performances" despite sourcing to the contrary - Writers with Drinks is listed on its own website as a "spoken word variety show", and two secondary sources referred to the writers featured as "performers". Would it be reasonable for me to reinsert this item? It isn't just any spoken word performance - Writers with Drinks is a prestigious, award-winning, nationally-acclaimed literary series, so I feel it is strongly relevant.

Thank you for any advice... Granny Bebeb ( talk) 04:21, 19 August 2009 (UTC) reply

Ah! If it's not too much of a bother, I also wanted to ask that you please take a look at the article's history...I feel that a comment left in the most recent edit summary was uncivil and unjustified, but would value your opinion on the matter. Thanks again... Granny Bebeb ( talk) 04:28, 19 August 2009 (UTC) reply
I hope I'm not leaving you too many messages, but was wondering if these links could help shine some light on the definition of "spoken word": http://www.reference.com/browse/spoken%20word?qsrc=2892

http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-spoken-word.htm The latter specifically mentions readings in the second paragraph.

I do not mean to assume or point fingers, but it really appears as if the user is doing anything he can to remove as much information as possible from the page. I want to be sure that my edits are solid and that I am taking the right course of action in this situation.

Also: if an RFC was opened, a user's opinion against the inclusion of content was in the minority, and an administrator gave the go-ahead to include it, wouldn't that make it OK to put back into the article? I am referring to the listing of the subject's works which ran in anthologies, which has been removed from the page. I find it strange that this particular article has been whittled away at for months, whereas the articles on similarly subversive authors (who are even the same age), such as Nicole Blackman, which have been brought up in discussions of the matter, haven't had any such works removed and even include chapbooks (which lack ISBN numbers) and works published in magazines. I cannot help but wonder if it may be because Catalyst identifies as "queer" whereas Blackman does not.

Again, I do not mean to make any assumptions, I am merely asking in the hopes that I can improve a page that has been demoted to "low-priority" (despite the subject's invention of a new strict poetic form - http://www.vagabondagepress.com/90401/V1I11IN1.html "Millennial Haiku", as well as multiple awards for spoken word performances that until recently, I wasn't aware I could cite using a print source - still confused about how to fix that citation though) - what do you feel would need to be amassed to upgrade the article to Jump-A-Class status? Thanks again for any help/advice you may be able to offer. Granny Bebeb ( talk) 23:22, 22 August 2009 (UTC) reply

Also wanted to note that the article pertaining to another comparable writer who was also brought up, Emanuel Xavier, contains the statement "Later that year, he was named one of the "25 Most Influential GLBT Latinos" by the Mi Apogeo (My Latino Voice) website" - Catalyst was chosen as one of 8 LGBT icons by Frontiers news magazine in 2007 and was featured not on a website, but on the cover of the 2007-8 telephone book - seeing as it seems to be okay in the context of that article (which has been left alone despite being brought up), may I assume that it is okay to place this information into the article on Catalyst?

Also, the Xavier article contains the following unsourced statement: "top honors as President of the Student Association and Editor-in-Chief of the high school newspaper", whereas it can be proven via college transcript that Catalyst graduated with 'distinction' (the Hendrix equivalent of departmental honors) - shouldn't that be okay to include?

I admire the works of both Blackman and Xavier, but am not sure why their pages (all writers of the same age, working within the same genre) haven't been given the "special treatment" of consistant, extensive removal which has been demonstrated on the Catalyst article. If this removal is truly in the best interests of encyclopedic value, I am not sure why it hasn't been applied to all three.

Again, sorry if all of this is overwhelming, and I appreciate any help you are able to offer. Granny Bebeb ( talk) 23:44, 22 August 2009 (UTC) reply

They're still uncivil personal attacks even when you leave my name out, Alcy. And you know perfectly well your friend User:Tallulah13 never left Wikipedia; she just pretended to, then kept editing as an IP. [1] Rather than just shopping around for somebody who'll give you different answers from just about all the other editors and admins who've been involved in this interminable dispute, you ought to review the policies involved, figure out how and why they apply to the articles involved, and edit responsibly. This isn't buzznet. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz ( talk) 01:09, 27 July 2009 (UTC) reply
I see you're fond of my abandoned old account. Again, I hardly know Tallulah. If she's editing under an IP, that's news to me. I haven't said anything uncivil - only stated the facts of the situation to the best of my knowledge as an editor. Granny Bebeb ( talk) 04:42, 4 August 2009 (UTC) reply
Uh, ok. First, do you want me to adopt you, help you further improve said article, or side with you in an editing dispute? It looks like a little bit of the three. — Coralmizu (Mizu onna sango15) Drop a line 20:00, 28 July 2009 (UTC) reply
If you could adopt me, that would be great - as well as any advice you may have to offer in dealing with the dispute and improving any articles I've been working on (primarily the two I mentioned above). Again, sorry if this is a burden...but I'm really hoping that I can improve the quality of my edits and the encyclopedia. Any help you have to offer would be greatly appreciated. Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. -- Ser Amantio di Nicolao Che dicono a Signa? Lo dicono a Signa. 01:30, 20 October 2016 (UTC) reply

Attention: WikiProject African diaspora participants

Hello fellow project participants. Not sure how many users are still active as normal Wikipedia editors but felt the need to attempt to get a gauge on who can be called on for help with articles falling under the umbrella of the African diaspora project. According to the project's article table there are over six thousand articles related to the African diaspora; there's not a hundred at FA/GA grade and there's over twelve hundred that are unassessed. With Wikipedia being one of the major information reference points in the world today we should consider this unacceptable. Much work needs to be done on the rating of the importance of articles as well. With more communication amongst participants and a dedication to addressing the articles on the to-do list I believe we can make this WikiProject one of the most well organized and thorough on the site. If you are interested in collaborative work with some of your fellow project members, have certain expertise on any particular subjects, ideals on/about the WikiProject, etc. simply drop your name under the "Project revision" section I've created on the project's talk page and state your intentions and main points of interest in our WikiProject and we can attempt to move forward from there. Hoping to hear from everyone soon! WikiGuy86 ( talk) 03:26, 24 April 2017 (UTC) reply

Hello

Hello Mizu, I just wanted to check up on you and thank you for putting up with me. I was 10 at that time, and from my contributions I am sure people either saw me as a vandal or a little kid... So, anyways, how are you? Reliable Forever talk 22:08, 28 November 2011 (UTC) reply

Since you have listed yourself as a peer review volunteer interested in the social sciences, would you like to support the quest to counter systemic bias on Wikipedia by giving a thorough review of the article Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore? MINDS turns 50 this year and getting their article to GA status would be a great way to appreciate their support of intellectually disabled Singaporeans. Thanks! 谢谢!Terima kasih! நன்றி! -- J.L.W.S. Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that you will not longer be able to request restoration of the tools because of your prior inactivity. You have until December 30, 2012 to request restoration or else the policy will prevent you from doing so in the future; you would need to seek a new WP:RFA. Until December 30, you can file a request at WP:BN for review by the crats. Thank you. MBisanz talk 04:22, 3 December 2012 (UTC) reply

Motto of the Day Help Request April 2014

Motto of the Day ( WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “ This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.

Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC) reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Contests

User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ -- Ser Amantio di Nicolao Che dicono a Signa? Lo dicono a Signa. 01:14, 21 July 2016 (UTC) reply
