Please feel free to add your name to this list of members. There is no minimum or maximum participation level, these two divisions are for you to determine where you believe you would fit best.

It would also help the project if you would indicate any areas of particular interest. This way, if there is an article that may especially interest you, you could be notified of the required assistance.

Also, the article structure, such as creation of lots of micro-stubs instead of building a solid main article, often needs to be undone with merges and redirects. My interest in carrom per se is only to the extent that certain variants of it qualify as cue sports.) reply

Carrom articles by quality and importance

To create

Improvements to main article

  • A carrom terminology section at carrom; should not be a separate article until such time as the carrom article becomes too long per WP:SUMMARY. If this occurs, and there is enough material for a terms article, it should be at glossary of carrom terms.
  • A more fully-developed rules section at carrom, covering all of the "Laws of Carrom" basic, in summary – we absolutely must not copy the rules verbatim, as was done in a few cases at carrom already, as this is a copyright violation, and also violates WP:NOT ("Wikipedia is not a game guide"). Some of the aspects that should be briefly covered may include:

Standard equipment (already has a section at main article), interpretation of rules, sitting position of players, striking (already has a subsection at main article), the toss (already has a subsection at main article), trial boards, the break, turn of play, scoring and score cards (the score cards part can probably be omitted, as it has little to do with general game play, only with ICF tournament play), changing of sides (already covered somewhat in the toss section at main article), carrom-men overboard, fouls, rolling and overlapping, the queen (already has a subsection at main article, but mostly about the dimensions, not the game-play), dues and penalties maybe (this isn't really relevant at all to the game as such, only to membership in ICF, so it should probably be omitted from the article), loss of match, protests, and of course the general rules. Each of these topics should definitely not be separate articles, unless and until such time as the main article becomes too large, per WP:SUMMARY, and the desired new sub-article actually has enough content to support an independent article.

  • A carrom records/champions/championships section in the main article (a potential candidate for being a separate article, if there is enough material available.)

Notable carrom players

International players

Ravinder Gaud, P. Nirmala, Madhop Singh, M. Natraj, Kubendra Babu, L. Suvarna, S. Appoorwa, Pierre Dubois (carrom player), Yogesh Pardesi, Raju Bhaisre, I. Ilavazhaki, Ayesha Mohammad, Suhas kambli, V. L. Somanchi, Anuraju, Sanjay Mande, E. Mahimraj, Nissar Ahmed (carrom player), Anupama Kedar, Jegan Bangle, Mahendra Tambe, Amitha Wickremasinghe, Sandeep Deorukhkar, Sangeeta Chandorkar, Nagsen Etambe, Vijraj Fernando, Parkash Gaikwad, M. (WARNING: unlikely to survive Articles for Deletion, on notability grounds, unless they are World Champions or are/have been in the top-10 players in the world. After the carrom main article is much, much better and firmly, with numerous independent, reliable sources, establishes carrom's international notability as a competitive sport, then maybe some additional player articles will be plausible.)
