Wikipedia should use slurs with care. While Wikipedia is not necessarily censored, and thus offensive words may and should be discussed, editors should use offensive words with care and respect.

The terms preferred by an individual or group should be used to refer to those individuals and groups when discussing them, except when discussing them being called slurs, in which case the slur may be referred to but not used.

Thus "American Indian" is preferable to "Native American", though not a slur, and "Inuit" or "Arctic" is preferable to "Eskimo", a slur. If an individual or group identifies as "queer" they may be referred to as such but individual or groups which do not identify as queer should be referred to using the terms they identify as, such as LGBT.
