The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.

Suggesting deletion. Ponciroli is the director of encyclopedic films such as Old Henry and Greedy People, and co-creator of television series Still the King, yet the page currently is a redirect to Colt Ford discography#Music videos, which makes little to no sense. Per WP:REDLINK a redlink would be more useful, as it would encourage editors to create the page. Cavarrone 08:04, 27 February 2024 (UTC) reply

  • Delete per nom. A7V2 ( talk) 23:35, 27 February 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Delete per nom. As far as I can tell, current target is because Potsy directed the music videos for several of Colt Ford's songs. However, I'd say that the two films and one TV series you mentioned are far more noteable than some music videos. WP:REDLINK is the way to go here. Lunamann 🌙🌙🌙 The Moooooooniest ( talk) 13:38, 28 February 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Keep or create article - Most of Ponciroli's work is with Colt Ford. An article should be created for this person. -- Jax 0677 ( talk) 23:51, 3 March 2024 (UTC) reply
@ Jax 0677, the music videos are non notable and unremarkable, and are definitely the least significant works in Ponciroli's resume. Your redirect has likely prevented the page from having been already created. Cavarrone 07:54, 4 March 2024 (UTC) reply
    • Reply - My redirect cannot prevent an article fr9m being created. -- Jax 0677 ( talk) 14:34, 4 March 2024 (UTC) reply
      Picture the following three scenarios.
      • An editor looks at the name 'Potsy Ponciroli' in an article. It is black. The editor scrolls past, safe in the idea that Potsy has been deemed non-notable and does not need an article.
      • An editor looks at the name 'Potsy Ponciroli' in an article. It is blue. The editor scrolls past, safe in the idea that everything notable about Potsy has already been written, and move on with their lives.
      • An editor looks at the name 'Potsy Ponciroli' in an article. It is red. They click it, and Wikipedia itself says "Hey! We don't have an article here! Please make an article!" They spend the next 30 minutes or so researching Potsy and writing a stub. Over time, this stub evolves into an article.
This is why WP:REDLINK, while not mentioning Redirects once in the article itself, is commonly cited as a reason to delete redirects. A redirect has the effect of preventing editors from writing articles, simply by existing. A comment stating that a redirect should be deleted "as per WP:REDLINK" is a comment that states, "Hey, whatever the article is currently pointing to has little to no notable information about this topic, but while I don't have it myself, I think there might be notable information somewhere. Thus, I think this redirect should be deleted and replaced with a redlink, which might flag down an editor to write a much-needed article." They're... indirectly fancruft? Here's the thing about these redirects-- if someone actually wants to plug "Skeletron" into the search bar, and mean the Terraria boss, they're NOT going to be satisfied by the article on the game itself, they're going to want some information on Skeletron. And the issue with THAT is, actually adding information on Skeletron WOULD be fancruft.
